One of my favourite non-AGOT mods is 'The Orders of Chivalry' by modder Maal, who also does The Great Trade League. Both of his mods as well as The Sufi Schools (not relevant to AGOT) can be found at the Paradox forum in his thread.
OOC adds multiple societies for holy orders as well as some extra fighter's guilds, and uses its own duel engine to simulate character combat. Combat is used both as a means to advance in the society, as well as against enemies. For example members of the fighters guilds added by the mod can duel to advance in rank, or to collect bounties: any ruler can place a bounty on the head of an enemy, and a fighter can try to duel them to the death to collect it. This can lead to unique trophies or stolen weapons.
While The Great Trade League just works with AGOT and the generic fighter societies of the Orders of Chivalry also work, I felt there could be more done with it. So I've made a sub-mod for OOC for use with AGOT, that turns the Warrior's Sons and Poor Fellows into societies if these orders have been created / the Faith Militant has been restored.
This has two main effects: 1) Makes the Faith Militant a bit stronger by adding the combat stuff to the societies: high ranking members will have high dueling skills 2) Gives Westeros players another society to join and roleplay in.
The societies are created if the Faith Militant is restored in the mod (if the Iron Throne increases religious authority to medium) or it starts out existing (before Jahaerys or starting with King Tommen). If the societies exist but the orders do not, the current grandmasters of the societies will take the order titles. If there is no existing grandmaster a new order leader will be created who will also become the grandmaster.
The Warrior's Sons functions close to a normal holy order with similar prerequisites as any other order, with a few AGOT specific exceptions. The Poor Fellows functions closer to a fighter's guild in that it does NOT allow knights or rulers, and can also include women to join. Priests (Septons) are also encouraged to join as per AGOT canon.
To use this: -Download the Game of Thrones mod, The Orders of Chivalry (Workshop or Forum), and this mod "AGOT Orders of Chivalry" -Extract Chivalry_Steam_Game_of_Throne.mod or Chivalry_Forum_Game_of_Throne.mod from the OOC compatibility folder, depending on if you use the Workshop (Steam) or Forum version -Select all three mods in the launcher: *A Game of Thrones *The Orders of Chivalry GoT *AGOT Orders of Chivalry
Required OOC game rules for AGOT: Fighters Guilds: Non European Map Holy Orders: None
This mod is set with both AGOT and OOC as dependencies so it should overwrite both mods' files, making sure it's compatible.
I've been using it for a couple of games now and I think it's bug-free. I'll be glad to hear any feedback, but of course feedback about the main mod mechanics should go to Maal.

Love it already! i've been wanting something like this for awhile now, i'm glad to see it finally happen, i'm assuming it is save-compatible? either ways i'm ganna try it. PS, i just realized you need to edit game-rules so not save-compatible, heh, oh well, guess i'll have to abandon my save

Sadly, it isn't save game compatible as the Orders of Chivalry mod defaults to having the Europe-centric guilds active.
But if you can edit your save AND the Faith Militant is not active yet, you can add it to a running game by adding these two game_rules to the top of the save:
chivalry_rule_fight="extra" chivalry_rule_holy="none"

How difficult would it be to incorporate something like brotherhood without banners into this? In the vanilla mod i believe you can convert to a mercenary style government.

This mod together with the main Orders of Chivalry is compatible with both AGOT 1.9.1 and 2.0!

There's one thing i'd like to personally edit and i wondered if it'd be possible. the Duel experience boosts can go absolutely crazy, with over 200-300-400 PC Boost for the Warrior society members. so i'd like to either cap it or remove it entirely as i'm not used to getting my ass handed to me simultaneously in personal combat So is there any way i could do that without breaking the mod entirely?

Talking about the main mod here, since my mod is basically just a patch to make it work with AGOT and get it working for the Faith Militant:
It's going to be hard to edit it as the combat skill increase is a core design element of the mod -- the more you fight and win, the better at fighting you get!
One of my (longer-term) plans is to check *everything* related to combat in the AGOT mod and make sure it plays well with OOC. Maybe even wholesale replace the old duel system with the new one from OCC, as I like it a lot more.

Ah, gotcha, well i'm way more used to Old combat system as i've been playing with it for years lol. guess i'll have to get used to the boosts even though they can be a bit absurd, i saw plenty of society members with 500+ PCS 55 years in, i was dumbstruck lmao.

One thing to keep in mind is that with the OOC duelling system, combat skill isn't everything. If you fight strategically you can still defeat just about anyone.
But it is one thing I'm going to look over in more detail once I have everything working for AGOT 2.0, to make sure the mod isn't unbalancing the rest too much. One of the things I'm looking into is seeing if I can tie the King's Guard, Night's Watch, and other military societies into this system so they also can benefit from the combat experience.

Forgot to mention that I changed the upload so the game rules default to AGOT compatible options now.

Stealth edit: you can no longer get Valyrian Steel swords with this mod's combat, it was resulting in all canon swords being lost.

First things first, I love this mod!
However, I find that almost all of my children join the warriors guild and die in a duel. It’s kind of annoying when all 3 of your sons die by duel lol.
How would I edit the sub-mod files to reduce the chance of death to zero?
Thanks in advance!
