I do hope the new “levy system” is moddable; levies in westeros aren’t pitchfork peasants, they are men armed and armored properly with pikes and spears and swords and shields and mail and helm. We are getting retinues from the start but not the same thing.

First of all, I believe. CK II AGoT team deserves early access most of all, since the mod improved Crusader Kings II beyond any. Paradox Interactive should consider how much did these guys worked to elevate this game to unimaginable reaches... without salaries or payments... these knights of chivalry, deserve donations or atleast simple gratitude from Paradox. If the problem is that the mod is based on works of other person, notably senpai George... perchance something to do with copyrights etc.... then atleast I will say that this mod will forever stay in my memories.

Do we know how early access will work - will it just be devs for main mods or will submod devs also have access does anyone know?

(Source)So he says, but when it comes to actual battle we mostly see men armed and armored properly who obviousky had training and is disciplined. You can check out e-Ro’s threaf on asoiaf for this. I may also have added such info on mu military strengths threads.

That's because we see things from the eyes of POV characters, who are mostly surrounded by the most elite footmen of the lords, as well as knights. GRRM was talking about the composition of the armies in general, though, and not just those men closest to the VIPs of Westeros.

Tyrion is with rabble but rest of the flanks are not so. The karstark spears he face are also disciplined and properly equipped.

IIRC Tyrion was at the vanguard of those forces, where they usually put some of the best forces. (Tyrion and his clansmen being an exception, but that was intentionally done by Tywin.) We also have in-universe verification of the poor quality of the average soldier: (That's Ser Jorah Mormont speaking.)

That entire flank was formed of poor quality troops, save a few knights. Also the quote you brimg mentions these men are in mail shirts which is good armor. Here use this to search that battle and you’ll see. Hard pulling the quotes with a phone. asearchoficeandfire.com

Levies are not professional soldiers: if they were, they wouldn't be "levies", but footmen and men at arms. Oh Yeah? And I honestly can’t believe you make such a comment without knowing your stuff. Perhaps next time think and read before commenting and think again before posting that comment. below is also words from grrm and not in so spake or some other semi-canon but from the books directly. In the dawn light, the army of Lord Tywin Lannister unfolded like an iron rose, thorns gleaming. His uncle would lead the center. Ser Kevan had raised his standards above the kingsroad. Quivers hanging from their belts, the foot archers arrayed themselves into three long lines, to east and west of the road, and stood calmly stringing their bows. Between them, pikemen formed squares; behind were rank on rank of men-at-arms with spear and sword and axe. Three hundred heavy horse surrounded Ser Kevan and the lords bannermen Lefford, Lydden, and Serrett with all their sworn retainers. The right wing was all cavalry, some four thousand men, heavy with the weight of their armor. More than three quarters of the knights were there, massed together like a great steel fist. Ser Addam Marbrand had the command. Tyrion saw his banner unfurl as his standard-bearer shook it out; a burning tree, orange and smoke. Behind him flew Ser Flement's purple unicorn, the brindled boar of Crakehall, the bantam rooster of Swyft, and more. His lord father took his place on the hill where he had slept. Around him, the reserve assembled; a huge force, half mounted and half foot, five thousand strong. Lord Tywin almost always chose to command the reserve; he would take the high ground and watch the battle unfold below him, committing his forces when and where they were needed most. This wing too was all cavalry, but where the right was a mailed fist of knights and heavy lancers, the vanguard was made up of the sweepings of the west: mounted archers in leather jerkins, a swarming mass of undisciplined freeriders and sellswords, fieldhands on plow horses armed with scythes and their fathers' rusted swords, half-trained boys from the stews of Lannisport … and Tyrion and his mountain clansmen. "Crow food," Bronn muttered beside him, giving voice to what Tyrion had left unsaid. He could only nod. Had his lord father taken leave of his senses? No pikes, too few bowmen, a bare handful of knights, the ill-armed and unarmored, commanded by an unthinking brute who led with his rage … how could his father expect this travesty of a battle to hold his left?

Corvo, you betray yourself with that lady post. The vanguard was the levies, the common folk, and it's clearly stated how ill equipped they are; plow horses, scythes, rusted swords.
Attempting to compare the men at arms and knights to them is asinine, especially using Westerland troops. The richest region can of course afford to train snd equip more people to a higher standard.

We will convert this mod to CK3 or die in the attempt. The gods are good, all of you will prevail.

couldn't you have hired someone to do the GFXs of the valyrian and different species? Honestly I'm ready to contribute and I don't think I'm the only one to have an optimal experience on CK 3 agot. They don't make money off the mod, as it would be against copyright and would make them liable to be sued if they did. So they can't ask for donations or anything of that sort. The work they do on this mod is done for free and in their own time. If someone with experience working with 3D were to volunteer and they were willing to take them onto the team, that would be fine. Well the fact they can't make money is a (greedy) choice by paradox btw not some universal law. CA for example allows patreon for their mods, and indeed a couple mods make hundreds per month such as SFO for TW WH or MTU for TWTK, while that is certainly not the norm it is perfectly allowed. It's frustrating that paradox, who are equally as reliant on their modding community if not more so (i'd never have bought either Ck2 or Hoi4 without them) went full grinch mode.

Levies are not professional soldiers: if they were, they wouldn't be "levies", but footmen and men at arms. The problem is GRRM isn't always accurate with "historical" details. Real feudal-medieval armies weren't just untrained rabble and many of them had part time training. Another issue is that the main series and other novellas and faux-histories can be contradictory in this regard.
