Also your point of everyone can have boats with enough money is not a very good argument. Just because you have a shit ton of gold does not equate to abilities to rent ships. If you were to be landlocked, you shouldn't be able to easily procure ships, not even with a vast amount of cash. That's why it was an investment to build ships in CK2. Do you think that your neighbors (or merchants) will just let you take their ships for some cash? Are they just waiting on the docks for the arrival of the promised army to sail, and not doing business like they should? The Crown, the Lannisters, and the Redwynes (I doubt that the Baratheons had ships because of their location, I think it was just the Estermonts) had fleets of ships. That they invested on. The Starks, on the other hand, just gave up because of a certain "tragedy". Do you think that the Starks should be able to raise a fleet enough for 20,000 men to take them wherever, whenever? Is that realistic for you? Yeah it actually is. Because no one said a thing about "renting ships" except you. Typical strawman nonsense. Any kingdom with enough gold that CHOOSES to spend it on a fleet will have one, so long as they have trees available to harvest for the lumber. Period. You don't need permission to "rent" ships when you're a king with enough gold to just BUILD your own. And yes, the Starks DID have enough ships to move 20k men once upon a time. They just burned them all because one of their kings went out on a journey and never returned, and his son "Brandon the Burner" had a fucking temper tantrum. You're talking nonsense. Now, it should take some time and effort to build said fleet - but yes, available to even the Starks. Ironborn aren't your super special "only we know how to build ships" people. They just HAVE the most ships, because their lands are so shitty that they require them to survive. That's all there is to it. Even Essos, a place known for their lack of wood, has fleets in every "city". So no single place in Westeros would be without except for the fact that they have not allocated funds to building one. That remains true no matter how much you dislike it.
