The common issue that many people have with the Great Works is that they are always owned by the top liege, and that's also why this mod won't be using this new feature, I heard. However, I think I know what can be used as a workaround (at least for Westerosi Lord Paramounts) - the tributary system. If LPs are tributaries, they still own the Great Works in their territory, and not the King. For example, a tributary of Abbasids in vanilla 769, the (cheated in) Great Work stays in tributary's possession (makes sense, it's semi-independent): (Otherwise, I think tributary system can also be used for MegaWars, although I still like the current MegaWar system.)

Yeah but then you wouldn't be able to have an LP as hand etc, or build anything in their lands

Hm, that’s true, at least during a peacetime (the realm shatters quite often, anyway). Oh, well.
(However, you rarely build anything in vassal lands anyway, and I never seen AI do that.)

Tbh I think the great work system could be used as inspiration for more buildings - kinda like flamequeens overhaul - pretty much everything it entails could be replicated with building chains tbh I reckon - set the build times to really long and have certain buildings prevent other buildings to mirror slots and you'd have most of the great works system without it being owned by the top liege

Great works can easily be used for buildings in King's Landing - they are meant to be owned only by the King. Or maybe for some Oldtown buildings that are tied with global organisations - the faith, the maesters. Plus Night's Watch, which is a different realm - it is ok, if "the Wall" great work is owned only by the lord Commander, isn't it? I hope this mod finds a way to incorporate this new mechanics. It is simply stylish - there is a place for a big picture in there!

There isn't a mention anywhere about possible modding options that changes the rule that a realm owner actually lords or owns a great wonder.?

But don't they affect the local province only with it's effect regardless if the top liege owns it?
