I notice that in just about every case where I get the hunting lifestyle event where you sleep with a woman in the wilds, and then invite her to court, that she always dies very quickly of "poor health". Mind you she starts out in her late teens or early twenties and when this happened just now she had base health of 6 and had no negative traits. I think she's being culled? When this character is generated perhaps they need a flag set to prevent the game from just instantly purging them or maybe give them a random generic dynasty?

I usually grant these lowborn courtiers that I want to keep around a minor title. Court jester works too, if you're fine with the opinion hit.

The culling system always winds up being responsible for some rather annoying deaths - Val, Ygritte and Varys never seem to last a year without me intervening for example

I don't think it can be turned off, it is hardcoded. What does really annoy me is when landed rulers die from poor health without any bad traits. Aethan Velaryon has just died in my game at the age of 39 soon after he inherited Driftmark But when the game kills off unlanded people it makes sure that small unlanded houses like Lantel, Roote, Qoheris don't survive Which is also very sad... Even when playing as King, you can rarely do something about it.
Still, it is Paradox code, so I doubt mods can do anything about it.
