If I play with shattered realms during any of the extra bookmarks there are no dragons I don’t know if anything can be done about this but I’d like to play as an independent dragon lord and conquer Valyria

The dragon startup event fires for characters within the political structure of the Valyrian empire, it won't work with Shattered Realms active.

All submods, apart from Century of Blood, have been updated for version 1.8 I haven't been paying attention for a while, so I apologize if I'm asking a question that has an obvious answer, but didn't you have a fairly large number of submods, earlier? I see only 3 of them in the original post.

Sorry if this has been asked before at some point, but why are most of the minor houses missing in these mods? I love playing these earlier start dates, especially when Westeros was still all First Man, but I miss having the smaller houses like Cerwyn, Hornwoods, and pretty much anyone who isn't from the Reach.

@knuckey was it accidental in 'The Century of blood submod" Leaving out the - Fall of Sarnor, 7974 bookmark? it is not there for selection... I fixed it in my version by changing the defines date to match the missing bookmark, and removing all the # marks infront of the code for fall of sarnor in bookmarks.txt

There are some database issues in that bookmark. It will be fixed in a future update but for now the simplest thing was to not include that bookmark.

The minor houses from the North should for the most part all be there as they are ancient First Men houses. Most of the minor houses in the south simply don't exist in the earliest time periods.

Out of interest is there a reason for most houses in the main mod not having any history before Aegon's conquest? Could the history that exists in the submods be imported for modding purposes or would there likely be conflicts?

alot of the old houses in the south were andal houses from the andal invasion.. that is why alot of the southern houses do not exist before then.

No I meant that in the base mod if you pick basically any house that aren't lord paramounts or a cadet branch (like all the reach houses are) their history will start in Aegon's Conquest, ie the first Umber in the history files is born in 7961, the first Wyl in 7970, the first Mormont in 7969,

Okay, I suppose that's fair for the southern houses, but even in the North, the only houses that exist are the High Lords, like the Umbers etc. the Crannogmen houses, Hill clansmen and the Skagosi. Cerwyns. Houses like the Hornwoods, Forresters etc. are nowhere to be found.
