Yep, I figured that one out myself! I appreciate the heads up, though. Now for another question. I'm playing the Freehold of Valyria and I'm elected out every 5 years - way before the 15 it takes to turn the Freehold into the Empire I dream of. How do I maintain control of the Freehold long enough to turn it into an Empire? Do I have to look for code to modify, to turn it into 5 years? Or do I have to stay at war for the 10 whole years to postpone the elections before I can do it? Because it seems like the instant the war ends, it would cue up the elections and I'd get ousted, and reset the timer. I want my Valyrian Empire, dammit.
I'm not actually sure to be honest, I'll look into it.

Well, that idea worked - stayed at war for 15 years, it postponed the elections long enough for me to use the government menu to convert the Freehold to an Empire! Just as planned.
And... The flags changing again, from the previous flag of Valyria, the black dragon with spread wings...to the funky skull on the pink/blue striped background. The shit is going on with this, guys? Is there anything I can do to make sure this doesn't happen? I noticed that skull would pop up as the flag of a county/duchy/kingdom when I granted territories to some of my vassals as well. It has something to do with Valyria being a Monarchy/Empire. The flag was fine as a Freehold, but when I go Julius Caesar and change it from Freehold, it starts bugging out and changing.

Nothing I'm doing is working. Guess I've gotta keep it a republic and deal with being cycled out every five years. (...or kill the new Archon and be re-elected.)

... Even when I kill the Archon, the election cues up within one month and I lose it again. The Valyrian Freehold submod is awesome, I really want it to work. But the game is determined to keep me from being on top!
Can anyone tell me how to change to the other government types? The Noble Oligarchy option is tagged with 'Never', so I guess I can't use that one. The Triarch for Life option says I have to have the Triarchy government, which I can't get, and I have to rule for 15 years (hard to do when the elections are held in five (or one month, as it seems to be lately)). The Monarchy option is buggy, broken flag for me every time I try to change to it (and also fifteen years).

Hi all,
Im unsure if this has been solved for other people before, but the westeros only submod isnt working for me, despite the fact that the correct versions of both AGOT (1.7.1) and this submod are installed correctly and checked in the launcher. Does anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?
Thanks

What exact steps have you taken after downloading the submod?

I downloaded the zip file, placed it in the mod folder in the CK2 Documents file. I copied and pasted the .MOD file into the mod folder. I then ran CK2 and checked the mod on the launcher and pressed play.

Don't put the entire zip file in the mod folder. You have to extract the submod folders from the zip file and put them in the mod folder.

regarding the submod with the extra bookmarks (specifically those pre-doom)
If I am a High valyrian character in the Valyrian freehold, can I create valyrian steel? If yes, can I then recreate swords that do not exist yet at that time? Say if I start at The Founding of Dragonstone, 7600 (or 200BC), both brightroar and ice should not have been acquired yet by their respective houses of Lannister and Stark, can I recreate those, or would they never exist? If no, how would I get more valyrian steel? Could I buy it/sell it (selling only if I can create it), or would I still have to go through the regular hoops at the pyromancer's guild?
regarding the submod about the specific "Founding of Dragonstone" bookmark
I was always thought the targaryens were the first lords of Dragonstone, but when I select the bookmark, the Velaryons instead are the "Dukes of Dragonstone", with the County of Dragonstone being owned by No Character (which I cannot select to play as). Am I misinformed on the lore, or is there a reason as to why the Targaryens do not own Dragonstone in this bookmark?
thanks a lot in advance for any responses/help!

The Targaryens didn't go to Dragonstone until a couple of years before the Doom when Aenys the exile sold their lands in Valyria and moved the family there. The Velaryons are stated in the worldbook to have been on Driftmark for hundreds of years before the Conquest.
