I don't get why Viserys has the lunatic trait. I get that he was a deranged asshole with anger issues but I don't think he was insane. I mean, he's just an older Joffrey.

Because no sane man would hit the wiafu of a Khal in front of him or make demands while doing so. I don't think an older Joffrey would have done that.

I'm pretty sure that a deranged asshole with anger issues, a victim complex, a superiority complex, and who at the time of making the threat and hitting said waifu was very, very drunk. A drunk Joffrey would do this. I have no doubt. I don't think the lunatic trait would work with Viserys, maybe a new trait based off the possessed trait might work, just rename the trait from possessed to something else.

Yeah he is, he really doesn't fit the requirements for the lunatic trait. Neither does Maegor the Cruel either. It just seems like the devs just smacked the lunatic trait onto every asshole Targaryen.

Trust me he's pretty crazy. How? I don't see him as crazy, just as a slighty deranged asshole with anger issues and a superiority complex. Like Joffrey.

Viserys was pretty much like that even when he wasn't drunk. Specially when "waking the dragon" seems to imply rape for little Daenerys in one of her dreams.

It just seems like the devs just smacked the lunatic trait onto every asshole Targaryen. I.e. that's because of the Targ coin flip quote. Most "madness" coin flips consist of "lunatic" or "possesed" milder ones just add one of the "seven sins".

This thread gave me an idea for a suggestion. A new "lunatic" trait that is exclusive to Targaryens when they get the madness coin flip because the vanilla lunatic events don't fit them. Events would consist of random acts of cruelty that don't necessarily mean killing, gaining other bad traits, drinking wildfire, or if combined with other bad traits can give different events (cruel can make you kill random characters, lustful can make a random woman pregnant) It could still be listed as "lunatic" but like the dragon traits it could be "targ_lunatic". The description can remain the same since normal characters in the lore don't make a distinction between Targs and non-Targs.

I don't know how much work that would be, so I would usually never ask for a change for something generic, but considering it'd be for an important family, certainly couldn't hurt. The Targaryen's "insanity" is usually something different than the rest of the noble houses, caused from incest instead of.. being crackers? I don't know how else to phrase that to differentiate the two lol. Something to think about at least. Would give some extra flavor, and be more lore friendly to the people that want to play the Targaryens.

yeah but pretty sure aerys would also be the same but he's considered mad by most people if not everybody in westeros this is modeled after the middle ages, either you were mad or you weren't Well Aerys was different to Viserys. Aerys heard voices, thought he could physically transform into a dragon, and was insanely paranoid. Aerys was insane, Viserys wasn't. Viserys didn't hear voices, he didn't think he could transform into a dragon, and he wasn't insanely paranoid; the was only paranoid as much as a person who was brought up on the run after having their entire family killed would be. As I said before, Viserys was an asshole, not a lunatic.
