Island to the West of Ruined Valyria should probably actually be a part of New Ghis Kingdom and Ghiscar Empire rather than North Valyria Kingdom and New Valyria Empire. Lore mentions the island used to be another slaver port and had the pyramids much like the eastern cities. Slaver's BayThat map would agree.

This will happen by event if it is colonised by a Ghiscar culture.

Also known as "the Isle of a Thousand Battles". Presumably the battles fought were because Ghozai is a ghiscari city and Velos a Valyrian. The island was definitely conquered since the Velosi spearmen watched the Doom happen from atop their walls, so it being a part of dejure New Valyria/Valyria during all playable time periods is inline with the lore.

Actually, you are right. Either case of de jure would technically still be correct. Though, there is a third option. Remove the duchy or make two separate ones and Make Ghozai de jure Ghiscar Empire and Velos de jure New Valyria. That would even work better on pre-doom bookmarks as the AI on both sides would start fights trying to fabricate claims on each other and reclaiming their halves of the island.
