As the Iron Throne I ended up with Braavos as a subject and decided to release them a few generations later via the interaction menu 'Grant Independence'.
While part of the Iron Crown Braavos was a Lord Paramount, after granting them independence they kept this title so there was the independent 'Lord Paramount of Braavos', not a king. I would expect them to revert to being a full kingdom after no longer being subject, could something like 'Grant royal style' be added as part of the Grant Independence action, or perhaps as a decision for fully independent LPs? It already happens in Westeros, when e.g. k_north transfers to e_north.

Interesting. What about a decision, though? Reverting to the previous loftier style seems natural, but perhaps neeedn't always be the best choice in the political circumstances of the day. Also makes me think of Dorne. They were aware territorial prince (i.e. not a titular dignity for a royal) was higher than lord (when bestowed by Nymeria on Lord Martell) but lower than king (which the Yronwoods bore, among other houses). There was nothing to prevent the Martells from going full-on king, especially considering how they defeated the Yronwoods, whose style at the time was pretty much equivalent to (high) king of all Dorne ('King of the Dornish' is recorded verbatim), and yet they chose to stick with the more modest prince. This is similar to how the Aberffraw dynasty in real-life Wales decided to call itself princes of Wales, as in the first of the native rulers, even though their own vassals were styled as kings just prior (and that princely title certainly was regarded as not quite above the old kingly one, whatever the intention was).
In theory, I could for example imagine independent Tyrells sticking with LP as former stewards rather than further angering the more ancient houses with loftier descent from the Gardener kings or Garth Greenhand before them.
Or let's take House Tully from the books, never kings, though more powerful than certain royal houses. They can be seen as switching from the Iron Throne to the independent North immediately, but I think a brief moment of independence did in fact occur with the sort of impromptu kingsmoot of all North and Riverlands that retained Trident's existing LP but erected a king above him, in the person of the LP of the North just elevated to King on the same occasion. This isn't really applicable to your Braavos, but it kinda shows an example of how going for the max isn't always preferred.
