Right now there is an issue with the Nightswatch election where the best candidate becomes the placeholder while the election happens and is for some reason discounted and never actually succeeds. Worse, after the election is resolved he gets a claim on the Wall (not the NW) and then he and the new LC hate each other due to title claims. This placeholder candidate also sometimes flees to another court.
Instead of this, I propose using the vanilla ERE Imperial Elective succession method. I am told the voting criteria are very moddable but I am not sure about that statement. If they are it could function like this:
- All members of the court with the Nightswatch trait are valid voters, all councillors, all vassals with the trait are voters.
- All valid voters have same voting power. Councillors, landed vassals, 1.5 times the voting power (so if base is 10, they'll have 15)
- Candidates are anyone with the Nightswatch trait
- Voters prefer: Adults, high education education, high martial and diplomacy, minor title holders, highborn voters prefer highborn candidates, lowborn voters have no preference, high prestige, good genetic traits, high fighting traits, brave, diligent, chaste, celibate, honorable
- Idk if its possible but candidate should get a boost if they are related to and have a good relationship to any of the Emperor tier titles of Westeros
I'm not sure which other factors should count but I feel this is a better representation of the voting.
