Hi,
So there is this legitimize_self in "Crusader Kings II\mod\A Game of Thrones\decisions\minor_decisions.txt" which allows a character to legitimize himself/herself when he/she is independent.
It seems to me the set of constraints is a bit too loose in some cases. Indeed, I think the head of a cadet dynasty, should not be able to legitimize his/her cadet house unless there's a limited number of generations between this character and the founder of the cadet house (close kinship). I'm no CK 2 expert but I'd define close kinship as the difference between the big red droplet on portraits and the dark smaller red droplet.
To give this a bit of perspective and a use case: - 8000: Started game
- 8200: Founded a kingdom and started to create some duchies I couldn't/didn't want to hold, so I bred bastards to give them these duchies and create cadet houses.
- 9000: Random cadet house character inherits independent title and legitimizes himself.
Thanks for your time and consideration
