So im having a blast in my current game, but all of a sudden the game keeps crashing January 1st of every year. Im managing to get past it by changing the date to the 2nd at the end of the year but it required restarting every year. is there a fix?
UPDATE So if I turn off autosaves I can keep playing but at any point after the new year if I save at all it crashes. I dont understand why this is happening?

From my experience with 1.5 (still have not updated) turning off autosaves does not fix the problem. My guess is it has something to do with the scripts that run at on January 1st. The bug does eventually sort itself out though. I've run several games where it starts working again. I usually check every 5 years or so to see if its sorted out.
However, after the first instance it would seem you will likely get at lest 100-150 years of the bug occurring. After it does eventually go away, it will likely come back, but you usually get around quite a few years of gameplay without it. Once the bug returns its usually for a much shorter duration.
I've run one game for 565 years using the January 2nd method, and then most recently a 390+ year game which seems to have gone bad for a different reason. I was pretty close to leaving it anyhow, so wasn't to bothered about it. I've mentioned this in other threads but you may want to learn how to manually remove depopulation from the save game, as the script that restores population seems to run on January 1st.

Thanks for the reply, ill try your method and pray to the seven for this game to leave my save alone.

How long do you have to play to get rid of the crash? do i have to play through without saving for several years or keep changing the date manually through saved data? I always have this problem and kinda frustrated me. It always happened when my game is around 250+ years.
