A few months ago I released a small mod (which you can find HERE) that replaces most instances of the Valyrian dragon symbol with a slightly different, fresher-looking design. Since then, I have created a few more designs that I've now finally decided to put into a larger mod that tries to graphically 'update' a number of other icons for the major religions of the ASOIAF universe. Unlike the previous release, this is structured as a proper sub-mod which can be placed in your Crusader Kings II mod folder to be toggled on and off in the launcher. MainIt alters the in-game icons of four religions, the ones shown in the image above. They are, in order of their placement from left to right: - Faith of the Seven - Old Gods ( does NOT affect Wilding, Thenn or Mountain Clansmen Old Gods) - Drowned God - R'hllor - Mother Rhoyne - Valyrian/Dragon Mother Rhoyne, Old Gods, Drowned God and Valyrian also have updated 'reformed' icons that use the new designs. Optional extra - New Valyrian interfaceIncluded as an optional side feature, this mod includes a new/redesigned interface for characters of the Valyrian faith, as well as a new unique piety symbol that replaces the generic pagan one. This is not included in the main mod as it would greatly reduce its compatibility with other sub-mods. For those unsure on how to add this to their game, a readme file is included with instructions on how to install it. Preview: --- Please feel free to make suggestions for other religion icons, you feel, need to be altered or revamped in some way and I shall consider implementing it. To save on workload, it is highly recommended that you provide a visual reference of the sort of new design you're looking for. But please be aware that this is a personal project that I decided to share with the community and isn't something that I plan on devoting too much time to. Unless the modding team make any changes to the number of religion icons in the game, this should be compatible with all future releases of A Game of Thrones and should never need updating. Hope you all enjoy ---- -SIDE NOTE- The replacement for the coat of arms of the Empire of New Valyria, as well as the Blood of the Dragon bloodline icon, have been fully integrated into this mod.

Great job. Any chances on maybe getting an Old Gods reskin? One maybe with weirwood leaves and or a face? Thanks regardless!

Great job. Any chances on maybe getting an Old Gods reskin? One maybe with weirwood leaves and or a face? Thanks regardless! You've read my mind. I made a new Old Gods religion icon yesterday that I was planning to add to the mod either later on tonight or tomorrow. I'll post a preview here. I have added both leaves and a face (although you can't really see it with the resolution). Just be aware that I haven't made any changes to the Wilding/Thenn/Mountain Clansmen Old Gods religion icons. Preview: IMAGE REMOVED

A new icon for the Old Gods religion has been added! Please be aware though that the 'reformed' variant will look slightly different. I made a few tweaks to the 'unreformed' symbol after putting it into the religion file but I didn't make a backup of the original HQ image I used. As such, I had to start from scratch with the reformed version which means the shape of the tree is noticeably different and the black outline, especially around the trunk, is not as thick. Hopefully it won't bother the few people who actually manage to reform the Old Gods religion in their playthrough! This specifically affects 'main branch' of Old Gods only. The Wilding, Thenn and Mountain Clansmen variants still use their original religion icons. For a preview, see the updated image in the OP that showcases all current changes. Hope you all enjoy!

This is such a small thing, and yet I can not simply play without it anymore. Awesome work!

These are fantastic! Are you planning on changing all religious icons?

These are fantastic! Are you planning on changing all religious icons? Thank you! I'm not really planning anything when it comes to this mod, to be honest. I initially made most of these new icons purely for personal usage, focusing only on the religions in the regions I'm most familiar with (Westeros and western Essos), so I never had any intentions to 'complete the set' as it were. But I'm open to suggestions from people when it comes to changes they'd like to see. If that eventually leads me to change every single religion icon in the game, then so be it!

I really like these but the straight line at the bottom of the old gods looks a little off - have you thought about doing a similar forking root like on the vanilla version?

Yeah, I feel the same way. The problem I found was getting the roots to show up at all when the image is shrunk down to the size of the icon. They're so thin that they just sort of fade into nothingness. Even with the use of sharpening tools, the image still loses a lot of quality when shrunk down by that much. I'll do some tweaking and, if I don't get anywhere, I'll see if I can't find a better alternative.

rufff1 I managed to find an image with a 'thicker' root system that shows up pretty well at lower resolutions. Do you think this looks better?

rufff1 I managed to find an image with a 'thicker' root system that shows up pretty well at lower resolutions. Do you think this looks better? Its interesting - I'd just meant a left root and a right root like in the original just so it wasn't flat but this one actually works exceptionally well I think - given how the weirwoodnet appears to work having a super extensive root system represented is actually a really nice touch as the First Men aren't just worshipping what is above the ground but what is below as well and the style looks super cool as well.

Glad you like it! It is certainly much closer to what I had in mind when I first created a new icon for the Old Gods religion. I've updated the mod and I hope everyone prefers this to what was before

Hey all! I've just updated the downloadable .zip file, adding an optional extra that you can place into the main mod yourselves. This doesn't make any alterations to the 'main' sub-mod so, if you aren't interested in using this, you won't need to re-download or update anything. It essentially makes two small graphical changes to the in-game interface. For all characters that worship the faith of Old Valyria, their displayed piety symbol in the character interface will now be a sexy Valyrian dragon. Similarly, if you are playing as a ruler that follows the Valyrian religion, said religion's symbol will now display on the top bar religion button. In both instances, it replaces the generic pagan symbol currently used by this mod and vanilla AGOT. Preview: In the future, I plan on adding a piety icon for Mother Rhoyne so be sure to stay posted I decided to make this an optional add-on because, in order to get this to work, I need to edit the 00_religions.txt file which may greatly affect the compatibility of this mod with future releases of A Game of Thrones as well as sub-mods that alter the in-game mechanics of various religions. If you want to use this but find that it conflicts with another sub-mod, I have provided a step-by-step guide within the provided 'readme.txt' file that you can follow to make it compatible. The section in question is designed to allow users to update the mod by themselves in the event of a future update to AGOT that renders this incompatible (and I haven't got around to updating it), but it can be used to make it work with other sub-mods. If you do get stuck, please feel free to message me and I'll try my best to help. Hope you all enjoy!
