This has now happened several times. This is occurring with underage characters when I am marrying off bastards to landed characters, The betrothal suddenly switches to a matrimonial marriage once the groom can marry. No longer a betrothal but a marriage. So character leaves my court and is married to say a 9 year old. Its nearly like its using the Force marriage option rather than breaking the betrothal. That might be a bug as well but using the force marriage option to a prisoner can make people marry a child

Since the AI can be dumb when it comes to marriages, upon marriage an event fires in order to help preserve dynasty control of titles, especially if they are high up in the succession. Are the landed characters you're talking about female? If so, that would explain why they would want a matrilineal marriage.

Are the landed characters you're talking about female? If so, that would explain why they would want a matrilineal marriage. Its not a bug because its its switching to matri. I understand that. The bug is that they become married instead of betrothed, Like the "bride" will be 9. The groom leaves court and they are now married. It should just cancel the betrothal, not make children husband and wife and move courts. There arent even pop ups. It just happens. The betrothal magically turns into a marriage. I literally just had an instance with a courtier. Got him a betrothal. She accepted. I had the window open so saw it happen. It immediately cancelled - which is fine and working as intended. BUT. She immediately MARRIED some random guy and he went to her court. Husband and wife. She is 10, So something is triggering a script and its not working correctly. I

I've encountered this a couple times. Pretty annoying.
