I dont know how to install sub-mods from the citadel on mac, it gives me a .rar file and it doesnt show up in the mods menu on the launcher, can someone explain. Thanks
I'm unsure if there is a difference in installing sub-mods on a mac as opposed to windows. But how I install sub-mods is as follows.
1.)
Locate the mod folder. For me, the folder is here -> C:\Users\Kai\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod
2.) In the '\mod' folder Create a sub-folder and name it 'backup'.
Copy 'A Game of Thrones' and move the copy to the 'backup' sub-folder. I do this because im paranoid but feel free to skip this step.
3.) Create another sub-folder within the \mod folder and name it 'rar files'. I store the downloaded rar files here for organizational reasons. This is another skippable step.
4.) Find a sub-mod that interests you and read the forum post about the mod. You are
looking
for extra instructions or downloads by the mod author. Some sub-mods require patches to work with other mods. Always follow sub-mod author install instructions.
5.)
Download the .rar file. Find the .rar file and move it to the 'rar files' sub-folder.
6.) Using
a program like Winrar or Winzip, right click the rar file and
select the 'extract here' option. You should now see a folder named 'Mod You Downloaded' and a file named 'Mod_You_Downloaded.mod'. control+right click both the folder and the file and
move them/make sure they are in 'C:\Users\Kai\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod'. The folder 'Mod You Downloaded' contains all the information of the sub-mod. The 'Mod_You_Downloaded.mod' is more or less an address. If you don't see a .mod file, check the folder, sometimes mod authors put them there.
7.) From here, launch the game as normal and check the box in the launcher next to 'Mod You Downloaded'. Everything should work now.
If you have any questions let me know, it becomes very easy once you do it a couple times!
