So I was thinking about what an "A Game of Thrones" bookmark might look like and it occurred to me that it would need some unique set-up to properly portray the events of that novel. First among them was this; after Eddard gets imprisoned Robb could be granted a landless title that represents his calling of his father's banners to march south and rescue him. I thought, why couldn't just be a dynamic event that can happen any time a Lord Paramount is imprisoned by the King or perhaps by the Lord Paramount of another Kingdom.
Perhaps it is likely to happen if your heir is at least 15, not craven, humble, or content, and is at least proud, brave, and/or authoritative, with each trait making it more likely. As well of-course your heir needs to actually like you. The heir could get the event and have an option to call the banners or not. The direct vassals of their liege/parent would then get an event to respond to it or not. If they do, then they get added as principal supporters of the heir's war, who will have been granted a landless title and troops equal to their parent's demesne troops. Perhaps at the same time a temporary modifier could be applied to the parent's holdings which reduces their levies to zero until the war ends (to simulate that their child has raised their levies for them). Whomever has imprisoned the parent then gets war declared on them (to liberate prisoner) and things can just play out naturally.
Does this seem like it would be practical to anyone? I suspect it's something I could do myself with some patience, diligence, and time, which I may have in the future. Someone else should do it first though, since they'll do a better job and then I don't have to do any work.

This would essentially mean that if you got imprisoned, you would lose control of your heir as with his own title he would no longer be in your court, and you would also lose control of your vassals as they would all join your heir. It doesn't sound practical to me at all I'm afraid.

It doesn't sound practical to me at all I'm afraid. That's very true but also very true to life and to ASOIAF. Ned didn't want Robb calling his banners and marching off to war. Vassals might disobey you anyway. My sons love rejecting marriages I arrange for them anyway. Often, I find myself frustrated by regents who continually fire my councilors, and steal my money and my titles. Only for me to come of age and then die of the flue and revert to my infant son and repeat the process. My wife cheats on me, my maester keeps giving stat boosts to my bastards, whenever I get members of my dynasty in control of a kingdom without me playing as them they immediately screw it up and lose it. Not having control over things seems like a common theme in this game. If your son gets this event and the subsequent landless title then I imagine the marriage AI is going to prevent him from marrying matrilinealy to anyone.
When you play the game of thrones you win your die, there is no middle ground.
So, I think, that if it were balanced rightly (the frequency of it, perhaps being fairly rare) and perhaps making it a game rule so it can be turned off. I like the idea... but then I did make a thread about it so that makes sense.
+2 to event chance if heir is
Brave Wroth is friends with imprisoned parent Proud Authoritative
-2 to event chance if heir is
patient craven content deceitful ruthless ambitious has the desire to gain a title cynical Perhaps if they have the "is_smart_trigger"
Might also factor in as well if the heir is Just or Honorable and whether or not the liege is seen as a tyrant, as well as whatever their opinion of that liege is.
Won't happen at all if they don't like you or are too young.
That's what I'm thinking. I do appreciate the feedback though (in case this comes across as a bit hostile)
