Quick question, how come there's no trade routes representing the Kingsroad, Oceanroads, etc? I meant theres a modifier on each province affected, but wouldnt it make more sense putting traderoutes there? I understand that Aegon builds the roads, but can trade routes be created? or do they need to be in game already

Well I'm pretty sure that you can change the course of already existent trade routes by creating blockages(in vanilla at least) but obviously that requires for the routes to exist in the region in the first place, which isn't the case for Westeros.

Trade routes require to exist from the start. For the roads in Westeros, it makes no sense to have them existing already.
Plus I believe there are several issues with traderoutes anyways

It was major lag IIRC.

I recall reading in the changelogl that in 2.8 you can modify the wealth of a trade route with modifiers during the game, so you could have a route carrying 0 wealth until they roads are actually built.

If memory serves the trade routes for westeros are included in 1.5-they're just commented out. Remove the # at the start of each line(Everything on the line after a hashtag is skipped, so you can remove entire lines of code easily this way or include comments about what said code does without breaking the code) to re-enable. It does take awhile, but not sure there's a mod to re-enable it for 1.5. But all the roads technically in the code just not the game.

Didn't the latest patch just optimize them? Hopefully we can see them being enabled in the next/a future release. I've tried enabling them before on more than one occasion and for whatever reason the game refused to work.

Indeed, but I never got it - even back then, before tons of huge performance overhauls from Paradox, the Westerosi trade routes weren't such a big deal. If they were so bad to begin with, why bother with Essosi routes at all? The dothraki and Jogos Nhai made sure (pre-2.8) the Free Cities never got much from it anyeay. I believe now is a great time to have the Westerosi routes back.

I have a working Westeros trade routes file for the 1.5 version in my Re-Enabled Trade Routes Valyria mod: www.dropbox.com/s/0c9y2a6s5wbr2gc/Re-enabled%20Trade%20Routes%20Valyria.rar?dl=0Just take that file out of the trade routes folder in the mod and put in the same place for the base AGOT mod. All the comments have been removed and I also modified where some trade routes are to fit along where the roads go. I don't know if it would work for 1.6. If nothing pertaining to trade routes, province ids, etc. haven't been changed, then it should, but I haven't looked into that yet.

Since the Vanilla game introduced only certain provinces being allowed to build trade posts, would doing the same to Westeros bring down the lag problem it had in previous versions when all provinces could build them? If we follow the road graphics on the map and only allow trade posts to be build on places with high leveled cities and castles, it could possibly bring down the lag. Doing the same for Essos could really improve performance game wide too.

Not so much because of performance (don't think it would be that much of an impact) but more because of: 1) Lore. A random province in the Dothraki Sea shouldn't be as profitable as Volantis. There were certain historical major centers of trade, so the change would make them more faithful to lore. 2) Strategy. Trade posts are now insanely powerful and much better defenseable. Limiting them to only a few key provinces, like Vanilla, means more strategical maneaveurs to get to them and keep them under control.
