Within the lore , valyria had an government known as dragonlords so they didn't an merchant republic but a merchant republic is kind of close I guess but please its needed for the lore. And in valyria the and other parts of the world the ships go inside of the land instead on in the water.

What kind of own government does Valyria have?
And do you mean in the Valyrian Freehold bookmark or is it also possible to have this government if you form Valyria AFTER the doom?
