Old stuff, update at the bottom.
So, a week ago a slightly tipsy and more ambitious version of myself read this on reddit:
www.reddit.com/r/CK2GameOfthrones/comments/cszdtz/idea_for_alternate_history_submod/I thought it sounded like a great idea so decided to take on the challenge of actually making this submod. I present to you my first ever attempt and totally not complete yet submod.

This mod adds two boookmarks: 1- The Victorious Dragon. Here, Robert has lost his rebellion and Rhaegar sits on the Iron Throne. 2- The Second Dance. Rhaegar and his son have died, Targs fight for the throne.
To give you a quick run down: 1st Bookmark: - Robert has a merc company, Stannis at the wall.
- Jon Connington LP of the Stormlands
- Lyanna died but gave birth to Jon
- Elia got murdered and Rhaegar married Cers
2nd Bookmark: - Start in the second bookmark and shit will either hit the fan or not be too bad.
- Daeny is married to a Tyrell son and has just started a war for the Throne.
- Jon gets to choose his dynasty, then choose is he goes to war. Robb will almost certainly join him.
- Rhaenys can choose to go to war, ask Aemon to marry her or do nothing. If she goes to war Doran will join her.
- Robert has a merc company and seven days after starting will declare war on the Stormlands.
Current not great things: - Robert will not be able to win without cheating yourself extra troops
- The events have placeholder text not real localisation
- The actual claimants only have about 1,000 troops. I would recommend playing as their supporting LP then consoling to them when you win
I really haven't worked on this in a while and probably won't for sometime. Please feel free to leave any feedback and I will get round to sorting it at some point in the future
About 9 months ago I decided to start working on a mod based on this reddit post but I had to stop working on it due to uni work, I have finally got round to starting the update of it and the first part is ready. The first bookmark, analogous to Crowned Stag but with Rhaegar winning is done and can be downloaded here. I will be continuing to work on this to get the second bookmark done as soon as I can, in the mean time I hope anyone that cares enjoys this and please feel free to leave feedback. I also want to leave a shout out to thefool who made the custom coas that are used in this submod, because god knows I could never do that. |

Just thinking wouldn't it be better if lets say the trident still happened but Rhaegar killed Robert. Just thinking that seems more "realistic". Well in terms of lore but not in the mod as Rhaegar and Robert are very underpowered but there again most characters are.

Sorry to revive a dead(ish) thread, but can you share *how* you modded this? I really want to do an AU bookmark like this for Rhaegar winning (but very different) and all the canon characters like Robb still being born with the same appearance dna and having the same traits as they age up. Or forcing Sansa to be born after Robb, for example. I love this idea but have no idea where to start with modding like that.

I think you'd have to play around with a lot of files... mainly event chains, history files and the bookmark thingy (but that's the easiest part)... I would recommend reading through this [https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/Modding] guide to get started if you've never done any modding before... And even if you have you may find some useful info there to figure out where to start |

This is a lot of work, I tried to make it my first submod and was faced with a fairly steep learning curve. Robert's Rebellion and everything that happens after are all really complicated and there is a lot to edit. I would recommend getting experienced with modding other things first before trying to make an alternate history submod. Practice making a character, making an event, changing who owns titles, making people go to war and so on. The Ck2 modding wiki will become your new most visited website, it is a God send. Also, download other submods and see what they do and have a play around with them. When you do make a mod keep a log, at the start write down everything you think you need to do. Everytime you work on it add what you've tried, what has worked, what hasn't and all the new things you find out you need to do. I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to discourage you, I'm not, it is a difficult thing to do and I wish you the best of luck! Is this compatible with More Bloodlines? I didn't make it to be and I think they change a lot of similar files so I doubt it. Plus I haven't even updated it to be compatible with the current version of AGOT I'm afraid |
