I was reading the GoT wiki and it has this text about Thenn:
In line with this description, why not give the Thenn province a bit of volcano terrain?

What's the source for this claim? Wiki itself is not the most reliable source.

What's the source for this claim? Wiki itself is not the most reliable source. The Wiki does not give any source for this claim. I find the claim dubious. I don't recall anything about the valley being volcanic(ally-heated), and an (albeit cursory) search of the books and the Internet netted nothing about it other than the GOT (TV show) Wiki.

I can't find a book source either, just speculation like in this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/1yl43r/spoilers_all_the_higher_mysteries_part_one/
It makes sense to me.

I don't see the point then if this is just speculation. Changing Thenn area province from arctic to volcanic is rather big change and I'd rather base it on the books or info from GRRM and not one post on reddit.

If we are just going by speculation then I'd say the protection from being a valley surrounded by mountains is what helps Thenn - see the official map commission by GRRM here: i.imgur.com/AHMrDCH.jpgIf we are trying to find a source for extra warmth, then geothermal activity sounds a lot more likely than a volcano, and there's precedent for it in the books. Winterfell is heated by water from hot springs, which is why the castle is always warm, and even had a greenhouse. Plus, from what we know of volcano on Dragonstone it doesn't seem to help much. Kevan Lannister calls Dragonstone "that damp and dreary island" and in TWOIAF we learn that it smells "of sulfur and brimstone". Not what I associate with pleasant climate or green growth.
