The last time I made a suggestion was in the old forum about Volantis, right now I'm really happy that most of the issues that I saw when I played with the first daughter of Valyria were addressed. But the topic I want to speak today is about banking. It is know that the Iron Bank of Braavos is a real superpower when we are talking about giving generous loans and taking back their money even if it has to be made by the way of arms, but it is not the only bank of the know world. So:
1) Each Free City should have an option to take a loan from a local bank instead of asking to the Iron Bank of Braavos for some money. Of course, these local banks are smaller and should give less money at a higher interest rate to compensate the fact that they cannot take real measures against you for not paying the loan (besides a big prestige hit and maybe an opinion penalty with republican vassals for not paying). Also, if any ruler is in bad relations with the Iron Bank they should have the option to go to smaller banks in the Free Cities for money, such as Ser Harys Swyft did during A Feast of Crows. He failed, but maybe other characters with more stewardship or diplomacy can succeed where he did not.
2) These banks are in fact too small to really compete with the Iron Bank of Braavos, but during the Dance of Dragons and most of the reign of Aegon III there was a bank that did compete and surpassed the Iron Bank even if it was for a really short time, that was the Rogare Bank of Lys under the direction of Lysandro Rogare The Magnificent (who is already represented as Magister of Lys in these bookmarks). I think that during this bookmarks the Rogare Bank should receive the same treatment as the Iron Bank of Braavos. Some people have been suggesting treating the Iron Bank as a society, maybe the Rogare Bank should also be a society with Lysandro as its leader. I think it would make for great gameplay if both Lysene and Braavosi characters could associate themselves with these two banks and receive some benefits or missions from them.
3) The rivalry between the Iron Bank of Braavos and the Lysene Rogare Bank should have repercussions as some events for Braavos, Lys and Westeros. For example, let's say that Aegon II Targaryen survived after winning the Dance of Dragons and decided not to pay a loan he took from the Iron Bank during the war. Then the Iron Bank gives money and troops to one pretender (let's say the sons of Rhaenyra) so that pretender pays the debt, after all the Iron Bank will have its due. Now, if that is the case then the Rogare Bank could give a loan to Aegon II so he can fight the pretender and by doing so harm the interest of the Iron Bank.
The Rogare Bank stopped being a serious competitor against the Iron Bank after the death of Lysandro and his brother, but even if it was a short time in history they were really important as a financial and political power. They were infamous in the court of Aegon III because of their always growing influence, and even if they did fail in the end the successes of Lysandro and the Rogare Bank were responsibilities of the Lysene Spring. After that period the bank was not that important, but maybe it still exist nowadays in Lys and would be nice to have it in the game if only to give The Rogue Prince bookmark and the following years better gameplay. And what is more important, it would be nice to have the option to go to the local banks if you're playing in one of the Free Cities (besides Braavos of course, their local bank is the Iron Bank)
