Very cool I've made a quick adaptation of the revised CV mod (fewer provinces) to this new layout, here's how it looks: I made two changes other than reducing the number of land provinces: 1) I split up the sea zones on both sides of Valyria, adding two new provinces rather than letting them remain part of the Western Valyrian Sea. 2) I added a pixel line of impassable sea terrain (a la Dorne coast) to the edge of the Western Gulf of Grief, to prevent pathing through the Smoking Sea. In my mod I will keep the volcanic islands as well as the northern parts of the islands uncolonizable since they are after all volcanoes. I'll try to finish up some of the other stuff I'm working on and then upload a new version of CV Revised

Ah, nice! I might see if I can make you a custom version of the terrain map, cause some of the sub-mod textures look odd when applied to present Valyria...I might also see if I can make you some custom borders, as Valyria province seems a bit oddly-shaped to me (the province you've mixed with it was a bit of an odd one; I just drew it that shape because the place name indicated it was a hilly region). Also, part of me wonders if it could be worth putting in the provinces you've omitted on the islands? Like, keep them as wasteland, but pepper them throughout those tiny islands currently occupied by Lentun, Gelenka and Kastaryia? That would potentially help make it more compatible with the sub-mod as well...
I'm not sure the impassable sea needs to be added, though; if Valyria's being restored, then surely it should be possible to sail through this area, and in any case if the seazones around it make a shorter route than going through it, won't the AI just favour that path anyway?

Province shapes aren't final, this was just a quick way to merge the mods. Custom terrain would be great, I'm really not that good at it so I just copied it from the sub-mod indeed and traced out the new island borders I thought about including some of the unused provinces, but decided to just add some of their holdings to the provinces I merged them into, instead. The game doesn't actually mind if a defined province is unused so it's harmless. There's one small annoyance with adding wasteland provinces in the sea: the adjacency colouring wom't work for them. I may put a single pixel of a populatable province on the islands to work around this, but it's not a neat solution. As for why I want to use fewer provinces... the province density in Valyria is simply too high if I use all the sub-mod provinces, the islands are more densely populated than some parts of Westeros even. As for the pathing, most traffic would go around the islands but ships going to or from Mantarys or Mereen may opt to go through the Smoking Sea if the sea isn't blocked above Mhysa Faer. Since I like to start in the last two bookmarks this isn't rare to see, with Dany or her enemies using boats to or from the slaver cities.

Aight, I've done some quick mock-ups; they're all in this folder: sta.sh/21eriwxdugqs?edit=1Haven't added any of those provinces back in; I just redrew the borders slightly to make them neater in this setup (and added another wasteland to block off the western part of the Smoking Sea as well), and also took out the ones that I presumed were there because of the volcanoes in the base mod? Not sure what you're meaning about the adjacency issue, though?

Haha, now I feel dumb... I should've just extended the strait seazones south instead of adding new ones
Anyway, I think I figured out how to do terrain modding so I'm attempting to do some logical revisions. In the progress I noticed at some point I had managed to move the entire terrain.bmp for Valyria by one pixel, explaining some of the oddity in the terrain there...
Province layout, with the province borders including the 'destroyed' ones matching the terrain:
Lands of the Long Summer terrain:
Valyrian Islands terrain:
Ignore the strait from Mhysa Faer to Valyria, I've corrected it since taking the screenshot. A consequence of adding a single pixel on the destroyed islands from another province, to enable wasteland colouring.
Basically I tried to use the terrain from what you posted, combined with the one from the official sub-mod. I've replaced all the glowing destroyed terrain with normal volcano terrain like is used in Asshai.

No, it does not. It may appear to work at first but it needs an update.

Yeah I'm trying to update it myself and its taking ages as a tonne of title histories have been changed in this update. Event files are pretty easy but title histories take ages as their all individual.

I hope there's some hope of this getting an update. I think it has the best ideas for the map of any submod.

Is this submod compatible with the More Bloodline Submod ? More Bloodline submod make a few changes of the map, I'm scared to try the two submod simultaneously

Is this submod compatible with the More Bloodline Submod ? More Bloodline submod make a few changes of the map, I'm scared to try the two submod simultaneously It would need a compatch. The Iron Islands could be pretty quickly pasted over, but the eyrie, Old Town and Kings Landing would need to be fixed. Very incompatible right now.

More than that, since Improved Borders would also need to be made with the 2.0 base map first which added provinces of its own. And with the swapped around provinces in this mod, that's not straightforward to do.
The next update for More Bloodlines will feature some redrawn province borders like this mod has, but not the full overhaul like actual mountain ranges.
