It would be cool if there were random events when taking a castle apart from the imprisonment ones that are already in the game. Things like:
1. Characters in the castle getting randomly killed by attacking soldiers. Low-tier characters are more likely to get offed than high-tier ones (so some random hedge knight is more likely to get shanked than a lord). The personality of the commander of the besieging forces would also play a role (ruthless, cruel, arbitrary, lunatic, paranoid, etc. commanders would increase the chances across the board of defenders getting randomly killed, just, kind, temperate, honorable, etc chars decreasing the chance across the board).
2. The besieging commander specifically ordering the deaths of certain high-tier or otherwise important characters. Subordinate commanders could either accept or refuse this command, based on personality and relationship (if any) with the chars in question. Characters that would likely be singled out:
a) If fighting a claim war, any hostile characters that either have or could have a claim on the relevant title (children, siblings of the ruler)
b) Characters against whom the commander has a grudge or rivalry
c) Loyalists of the enemy ruler, e.g. friends, spouse, etc.
Characters killed this way might be flagged as "dying under suspicious circumstances" if the person carrying out the deed is discreet enough, or the responsible commander and/or assailant can get connected to the murder and incur dishonor
3. High-tier characters that are targeted for elimination may be defended by bodyguards, friends, guardians, parents from the attacker, giving them a chance to escape
4. Characters with high combat ability or high intrigue might be able to escape the enemy's clutches if lucky enough
5. DIshonorable characters might try to save their own hide by betraying and capturing/murdering the castle's holder in an attempt to get leniency from the attacking forces
6.High-level rulers (like the King on the IT), if faced with the possibility of getting overthrown and losing their crown might choose suicide or a valiant last stand over capture. Possibly also stuff like wildfire plots.
