I feel it is pretty hard to join the alchemists, and then the ruler dies and it takes generations until you can join again.
I think it would make sense if you could introduce your heir into the society. The heir would have to be taught one of the society's requirement traits, I think it should be an event with chance for any of the traits and with a minor (10%) chance of fail, maybe by the ruler teaching his child at the age of 12, or by paying a wisdom to teach him, or by the apprentice minor title, that could be modded to be granted only to a child of the ruler at age 12, so that the apprentice would get the event at age 16.
