This should be a bit more detailed and not so punishing getting children poor fighter and trained fighter. There should be a different success calculation and less severe penalties for getting a child the first two ranks. If they fail and get injured they should usually only get those minor wounds that you now get in melees. However going from trained to skilled should entail a harder calculation and also higher risks; training to be very good entails more severe injuries when they screw up. So more likely for wounded, maimed, disfigured, ect.

I know I'm late to the party, but I second this. The prestige penalties for failing could be scaled to top-tier title as well. As it is now when I am a count I not only end up with a bunch of cruel, homosexual sons that are missing an eye or a leg, both them and I can end up in the red for prestige as well. A bit harsh of an experience just to teach a bunch of kids basic swordplay that every noble boy in Westeros is expected to know.
