I haven't used any submods. It seems to be affecting children that have the jogos nhai strong seed.

I have what seems to be a similar issue in that clicking around on Jogos Nhai rulers works for a while then shows blank portraits which can't be interacted with. Restarting helps for a while but eventually it happens again. youtu.be/J_yQ_YU3Xjo This is after playing for several hours, seeing the bug start, resigning to menu screen, and reloading. I'm missing Sunset Invasion, Jade Kingdom, and Holy Fury, but have all other DLC in case that has an effect

The hollow portrait bug may be related to a wider Jogos Nhai bug, I went almost 150 years without any major problems, intereacted with a single province with Jogos in it, now I have serious bugs using search where the first three portraits are a background. Up to the point I interacted with them in the GUI everything was fine, screenshots attached.

Yes yes yes!!!
This issue has ruined several of my games, but you nailed it, it is caused by any Jogos Nhai characters.
I was able to reproduce three times in 2 minutes:
1. Start a new game. I was Robb Stark in the clash of kings bookmark (3 3rd moon, 8299) (but it makes no difference who you are) 2. Click Find Characters 3. Search All (so you find people outside of your realm/vassals) 4. Sort by culture by clicking on the Culture heading (this makes it easier to find a Jogos Nhai character) 5. You can scroll up and down and have no problems UNTIL the very moment you hit a Jogos Nhai character, the hollow portrait issue will occur.
Hollow portrait issue occurred. Scrolling up and down character list results in a large portion of the characters having empty portraits.
After the issue happens, even closing the find characters window and re-opening and you still have the hollow portraits.
I hope this issue is the same issue that has been ruining my games. The hollow portraits with the same symptoms always pop up for me after 50-130 years. Maybe I was tending to focus on building internally for the first while so wasn't focused on far away characters, then after I'm consolidating the iron throne i'm looking for other things to do and stumble on the issue? Or there is another cause of the hollow portraits issue, but at least maybe this will light the way to find the other issue.
It really is super easy to reproduce. When I saved and reloaded the file, I didn't have hollow portraits. But after reloading I was still able to reproduce the same bug by following the same steps to reproduce. So there is no real value in a save file.
Thank you so much if any one takes a look.

Thanks!!
I've tested and confirmed that installing the Mongol faces DLC fixed the exact steps to reproduce I mentioned above.
Best $2.19 I've ever spent!
