After messing around with HF for a bit (buggy as it is currently). I noticed right away that the Hellenic revival could be looked at as an example of how to handle a possible resurrection of the Valyrian religion and eventually its reformation, should a New Valyrian empire be formed.
There are a few other religions that could make use of the reformation feature of HF; Dark Gods, Hyrkooni, Nghai, etc. Basically any religion that hasn't been fully fleshed out can be given some content just by making it compatible with HF's custom reformation.

Yeah, I second the suggestion for using the religious reformation mechanics for the Valyrian faith. In fact, if possible I think that mechanic should be extended towards other faiths, simply because it adds so much diversity and flavour to playthroughs.
In addition, assuming it's possible for there to be multiple branches of an original faith, all reformed in different ways, that would also be something to aim for. There would essentially be competing strands of the same faith, or multiple heresies, all competing for supremacy.

Reformation definitely helps a lot to make boring religions interesting, gives you a reason to play them and a reason to reform them. Each could potentially be given a unique reformation doctrine as well that sort of reflects what they're about. Because as it is right now there's no reason to be most of the faiths in the game as they have no flavor.

It would be amazing if you could add competing versions of reformed faiths vying for power. Presently, in HF whoever reforms the faith becomes the only reformer. Either their version... or the old way.

Either their version... or the old way. I don't know if the base game would support multiple reformations. If it works that'd be great though, especially in multiplayer. I love the idea of undermining another player's reformation with one of my own, possibly even making theirs a heresy.
