I couldn't help think it might make sense to change the high lordship of dragonstone to a kingdom tier title to emphasise the prestige of dragonstone (lets face it the prince of dragonstone is hardly on the same level as the lords of Rosby or Duskendale), also it would mean that the velaryons could get a one holding high lordship like bear Island but still be subject to dragonstone, also the potential for the prince of dragonstone to sit out wars by the mega war mechanic (like Rhaegar did for the first few months of Robert's Rebellion) would be quite interesting

yeah, but then I guess might break the lore. Another kingdom title. Outside of that, I dunno, seems like it could become problematic.
Maybe though, a modifier, for holding the seat of dragonstone. Or a title, if your parents rule the iron throne, then you'd have "prince of dragon stone" but that's it.

Bear Island isn't a high lordship. it's just a single county.

Every time I play about three weeks into it the mormonts create the title "High Lordship of Bear Island" that is de jure liege of Bear Island, Regarding the new kingdom thing, couldn't there be a modifier where instead of Lord Paramount/King being the title it is Prince X of Dragonstone, in the same way that the rulers of Dorne are Princes rather than Kings/Lords Paramount?

Believe the prince thing is tied to the culture of the holder but not sure. Technically dragonstone can sit out mega wars as a duke but generally will not, and think driftmark high lordship comes up on occasion, though never 100% sure on the matter myself-most I can see is maybe it'd stop the AI from granting dragonstone to the valyrons.
That said, an alternative to a de jure title is a temporary titular title for the prince of dragonstone that has dragonstone as it's capital and spawns via event, and then dissolves upon inheritence. But seems like a potentially large amount of extra work-but a titular kingdom should work just as well. If you wanted could potentially make it a "Decision" for someone who's capital is dragonstone instead and has certian traits like say 20 martial, dragon rider, ambitious, etc that would represent him seizing his freedom as prince of dragonstone due to his abilities, while weaker heirs would be inherently subservient.
Course I've also been behind the idea of moderately more heavy events/decisions regulating the granting of dragonstone to keep the AI in check so that's just me.
