Characters who have Direwolves following them get -5 Reputation from opposite traits... this should not include Starks or Starkblooded people. Lyanna is my mother, and Ned and Benjen have -5 to me because I have a direwolf. As do Ned's children because they don't have theirs yet.
Edit: Dammit, meant to put this in Suggestions. Can a mod move this please?

I guess it could be considered more of a "fear" thing. Because remember it usually takes EVERYONE a while to warm up to them. Maybe if there was a way to add an event that your friend would lose their fear of the direwolf? I dunno.

This opinion penalty is offset by old gods religion characters having +10 opinion of characters with direwolves.

Decided to bump this for a related thing, direwolf and wolf owners should probably be okay with one another. Similarly I'd be surprised if Old Gods in general didn't have some respect for wolves as a whole.

There's no reason to believe that. Jon and Varamyr were both wolf owners and didn't get along. Direwolves aren't some sacred animal in the Old Gods faith, they are just ancient believed to be extinct animals like mammoths and giants.

I tend to bump Direwolves up to +15 old gods opinion because its kinda weird that you get the same respect for having a crow as a direwolf, also whilst direwolves aren't per se sacred to Old God followers, it is recognised that taming a direwolf is an impressive achievement even for wargs, Varamyr even remarks on it to himself, so whilst a direwolf isn't sacred, the ability to tame a direwolf is a sign that you are a masterful warg which is itself sacred, also I remove the negative penalty for eagles altogether as having a pet eagle follow you everywhere in a medieval society is far more likely to make people respect you and followers of the seven probably just assume you're a really good falconer. |
