Good Afternoon,
First Thing is I don't really know how to mod and it's been trial and error, mostly error with some success. Secondly, I did modify the Bibliophile, WoWGaG's and a couple of other artifact mods and added all those artifacts and books to the game. I changed up the localised files the best I could to make them more world-friendly....examples: Antiquities of the Jews became Antiquities of the Rhoynar, the Consolation of Philosophy get an quasi in-verse explanation of Boethius bring captured by Harry Hoare, the Bastard of Pyke. All the Christian artifacts were Sevenized, the Norse got the Ironborn, the Azetcs and Moorish Artifacts were given Dorne-related stories. Romans became the Valyrians, Ghiscar became the Greeks and Egypt. China = Yiti. I changed names were relevant and places were relevant. Churches became Septs excerta, excerta...There were exceptions to every rule of course and I tried to be true the novels of where George got his inspirations from. Some of the books and artifacts I sorta personalized like Jamen George (though I forgot if I made him an Andal or a First Men). I thought the Arthurian stuff should be First Menish and I referred to King Arthur to the "the 12" making him a warlord in the Age of Heroes. The Knights of the Round Table becoming said "12". I didn't place Camelot in any area in fact I don't think I referred to where Arthur ruled only that he did with his "12". But if I were to try to place it. I would have placed in Blackwater Bay with the AegonFort being ancient... a very ancient Camelot that people like Jon Snow and Stannis the Mannis, over even the Asshole Joffrey forgot. Tyrion may know and Bran, the Tree Eyed Raven should know...I would think Merlin would've have been a Three Eyed Raven. Anyhow I think everyone gets my driff.
The challenge now is to make the artifacts and books to be more universe friendly. I didn't change any attributes except when they messed up game play. I simply eliminated any active = so anyone can use Excalibur, Holy Grail, Achilles Shield excerta, excerta....Like I said I don't really know how to mod but this ancient former data base administrator by way of tapes and disc drums that were 250 MG who worked on mainframes for the US Navy during the Gulf War knew how to cut and paste and change what files did what. What's left to do would be making them universe-friendly with appropriate rewards/penalties. I don't know if I violated any rules about someone's else mods. I wish to no copyright, no money or credit. My interest was to spice up the game a little. So I apologize ahead time if that makes anyone mad. Again not my intent nor is it to steal someone's great ideas and claim them for my own.
If anyone is interested in helping me. I can assemble the altered artifacts with all the files and pass them along and you can make whatever changes you deem appropriate. If not if someone could show how to alter the files myself. I'll do it.
An example being how does an alter Excalibur or add Stormbringer from Eldric's Universe? Or how does one go about making a Reformed Valyrian Bible? How does anyone make a .dds file so I could personalize any artifact I was create for say my Thor (Thoren Thunderstrike, Age of Heroes semi-mythical possible God or in our world Thor)? I really want to add his girdle.
If anyone does what to help me, I would only ask that if you do mess with any artifact or book in-verse explanation, whilst I'm not wedded to any of it, I would at least like the courtesy of being told what was changed to what and why. I do think we all deserve an in-verse oblique reference even it's some obscure Andal hero who died getting whacked Robar Royce during the Andal Invasion. I am no expert on canon I freely admit but the History/English teacher that I am thinks he did a pretty decent job of identifying George RR. Martin's inspirations (the lock-step soldiers of Ghiscar being the Spartans of THIS IS SPARTA or THIS IS GHISCAR...or THIS IS SPARTA a city of the GHISCAR EMPIRE....) Does anyone NOT think the Valyrians are actually Roman Elves?
Respectfully,
Jim George, Special Education Teacher/Sometime History College Professor/Veteran of the USN or in Westeros of yore (Jamen George commoner or noble of particular importance who rises through the ranks and cheats...ummm I mean completes...yeah completes his destiny and rides his dragon Vaedar into Kings Landing and executes all the Freys with his direwolf...)
Easter Eggs in the Aritfacts or fun references (Paul McCartney and John Lennon, bards obviously, Star Wars Easter Eggs Vaedar, Maul and Ventress the Dragons....and few more...nods to other great TV shows....
