I'm not a modder by any means but I am a fan of Game of Thrones and Crusader Kings and with less than a month until release, I'm looking for any way to distract myself. With that in mind, is there any way to help develop a mod for a game that hasnt come out yet? Obviously things like maps and characters can't even begin until release but I was thinking about making spreadsheets for characters skill trees and religions (because who doesnt love a good spreadsheet?) as a small way to help. I'd be open to any other ways to potentially help before release too.
(Apologies if this is in the wrong place, first time posting)
Anyway, thanks for coming to my TEDtalk

Oops, my finger slipped (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GrgzOqg6yHTB15s2NKKEw1up1cr6d-Ez/view)
Although I've realised this might be pointless given that the developers for this mod are already working on a map from what I can tell so they've likely already figured out religion and various other things. But hey, if it helps a little then it's worth it.

From reading the CK3 dev diaries, dragons should be simultaneously a bit easier and much harder to mod in.
I saw someone mention that having to mod every vanilla event with a "Don't fire this event for dragons" tag was a hassle when talking about porting dragons to Europe. Some of the modding stuff discussed in the diaries seems like it would make that simpler, or at least require fewer lines of code.
But...libraries of 2D portraits have been replaced with sets of modifiers for 3D models and textures. Adding in creatures that aren't remotely human but which need to act like characters in some way will be quite the challenge, it seems. Good luck to whoever finds a good way to do it! Then we can have dragonlords and horse popes and stuff.

I was wondering about dragons too. Not so much how to code them but how to present them. I would hope they're able to find someone who can make a few 3D models but we'll see.
I assume they already have someone who can do something with 3D since the White Walkers and the Night King would need to be modded. IIRC, the devs said that changing skin colour would be easier (I think green was the example they used) but you would still need to do more with them. We'll see what happens though.
