Does having the extra contintent of Essos actually slow the games pace down?
And does this mod have like an official Discord or something?

You can disable the Essos part in the official submods (pinned subject)

If your machine is on the lower end of the required specs and you are experiencing major lag issues, then yes removing Essos in it's entirety with Westeros Only will help with your performance.
There is no Discord that I am aware of.
