Am I the only one that thinks that Harrenhal is completely underpowered compared to other holdings in the game? When its complete, it doesnt grant a significant boost to the levy and harrenhal is only a level 5 castle. So you would need to drop another 4k just to match riverrun. On top of that, the towers have no buildings and give very little levy. The huge fort level seems useless past level ten, so having a 17 fort doesnt seem all that helpful.
Another issue is rebuilding the castle. I have no problem with the curse but even with my treasurer and character having over 12 stewardship, the events take way too long for the game times frame. Im 150 years in and I am only at the 4th level of debris removal for the first tower. It would seem at this rate, the game would be unplayable far before the castle is finished. Is there any way to complete this thing without cheating?

12 stewardship is passable at most, get yourself a 20+ one. I've never played with the ruined Harrenhal yet but I would suppose it's the seneschal's job to restore and not the master of the coin, maybe you were trying to oversee construction and that's why it takes so long.
But yeah, Riverrun being bigger makes no sense.

It just takes a long time and the longer my game goes on, the more crashes my save is prone to. I dont know of a legit fast way to complete this thing. I was thinking of starting and gaining independence as ironborn, conquer harrenhal and use slavework but that would require dismantling the iron throne. So Im at a loss here.

Wait, RESTORED Harrenhal is only Tier 5? That can't be WAD.

Wait, RESTORED Harrenhal is only Tier 5? That can't be WAD. Yea, the submod harrenhal is ruined helps with that, makes it feel like a proper powerhouse, but I still find the waiting times to be far too long even with a decent stewardship and a treasurer with 20 in stewardship. I just finished the first tower and cheated the rest to completion. I understand the fact that it took house Hoare decades to finish with thousands of slaves but in-game it would take hundreds of years to finish without cheating.

Harrenhal does not appear in ruins in version 1.9.1 I think no? No matter the time, I see the castle of harrenhal "restored" ...

He also didn't have a curse to contend with. Any time a bad event happens while restoring Harrenhal, it can potentially prolong the process. If you'd like the to shorten the mean time to happen for debris to be removed, you can find it in harrenhal_events.tx; event is harrenhal.9. Under that just lower the mean_time_to_happen to whatever number you'd prefer.

I like the idea that Harrenhal isn't ruined, but most of it has collapsed, which is what the Main "Game of Thrones" Mod does.
What ticks me off, though, is that Harrenhal ISN'T A LEVEL SIX BUILDING, not does it have any buffs or improvements that represent it as the largest castle in Westoros, and largest castle on the planet outside of the Five Forts of Yi Ti. For all the costs and time it takes to restore it, it's literally nothing but a normal castle. The special Harrenhal Building that appears doesn't even extend to all of its holdings.
Harrenhal got the shaft in this Mod and that has annoyed me since I got it.

Nearly every other castle is properly represented, but, Harrenhall is only level 5 and Winterfell doesn't get a Winterfell building (like casterly rock and the eyrie have) detailing it's double walls separated by a moat.

I agree that Harrenhal should be a stronger fortress - the problem is that even at level 5 the Lord can still raise ~10k troops when restored because the demesne is so good. The special building should probably have a modifier that lowers troops from the actual castle itself, similar to Dragonstone's special building. I don't believe the Whents/Lothstons/Strongs/etc were capable of fielding a full quarter of all the armies in the Riverlands, though they were certainly powerful.

Something to note[which I personally have disagreements on but it's what the mod devs decided] is that the "level" of the castle isn't representating the castle itself, but rather representing the infrastructure of the barony as a whole. When you "upgrade" the castle your actually resettling large numbers of people, setting up new villages and towns, funding large scale land reclamation, etc. This is why in aegen's conquest duskendale drops several levels during the buildup-all the citizens and trade of duskendale is being transfered to kings landing meaning they lose out. This is also why there is a[slightly rare] event where the province is "Overcrowded" and you get a free level upgrade to aa city for like four hundred gold-the hard and expensive part of a developed population and economy is there, all that's left is refurbishing developed slums into propper infrastructure.
As a consequence, it makes some sense harrenhal would be underwhelming, since even if you restore it it doesn't mean the local population is expanded. And without that manpower you can't raise troops. Not sure how densely populated harrenhal was even by the time of the books but supposedly it's no metropolis with tons of expendable manpower. This is also why manpower recovers so slowly, when your army dies you've basically killed everyone between fifteen and thirty five and need to give time for more boys to be born and grow up.

I agree with your general point, though I think that if the greatest castle in all the realm were fully restored people would move in and the place would grow just like King's Landing did, no? Perhaps not on the same scale (going from a mini-province to a massive 7 holding one, heh), but still. However, that aside I think the Harrenhal should definitely get some kind of modifier, just like many other smaller castles. Being the biggest castle in the realm should count for something special, especially considering the difficulty and time of the rebuilding process (throughout which you have to suffer a nasty curse).

Personally I would like to see the Harrenhal give unparallelled fortification level and maybe a bigger garrison, but at horrible monetary cost. It is stated in the lore to bee a white elephant, so this should be reflected. Raised troops on the other hand come from the fields housing peasants, town guards and the like, as upkeeping an army is expensive and beyond the reach of most feudal lords and those who have the means, can raise retinues, which are representing the field armies. By the way the lands of Harrenhal are lush according to lore, but nothing special compared to other counties in Riverlands and its placement near better settlements and in the middle of army highway, where rebel armies march every 20-years or less means no sane peon will settle there if literally any other region is short in peasant-hands.

So, your suggesting rebuild harrenhal give a structure to the main castle and the towers that is say +40% garrison size and like +7 fortification but say minus two or three "Levels" of castle making it a hillarious bastion but one of relatively little wealth and offensive ability?
