When playing Aegon's Conquest it is always a problem to find members for the Kingsguard. The historical members get married very quickly - a long time before you finish the conquest. So I like to establish the Kingsguard on day 1 - after I choose to attack Westeros but before I choose whether to attack Harren or Argillac (so before I declare war). Corlis Velaryon (the first LC of the Kingsguard) always agrees to join the order and everything's fine. Still, there is a little problem - Robin Darklyn (Darkrobin) almost always starts as the heir to the sept of Duskendale. So when I ask him to join the guard, he tells me he's going to rule lands of his own one day Strange, isn't it? And I don't know any way to change the heir to that sept to make him accept the proposal... Sometimes this "heir to a sept" problem occurs to one of the Goode brothers or to Hugo Roote.
This was the problem. Now here's the bug that has already happened to me more than once. When Corlys Velaryon gets killed in battle early in game (I think the bug doesn't happen later in the game), a new member of the Kingsguard appears that inherits the title. He appears even if there is already another member of the guard (usually H.Langward). Notice that he doesn't have the Kingsguard trait - and what's the worst, he is a member of House Velaryon!
P.S. He's dead because I killed him with the console.

Hmmm, never seen that before I think it's related to forming Kingsguard before conquest is complete, and lacking barony of white sword tower.

Not sure how to get to them before they're married or something like that, but you could always console the event that puts them in the KG. I think it's kingsguard.8
It's in common/events/kingsguard.txt
Edit: if I am right about which event, just type "event kingsguard.8 {desired character's ID}" without quotes

Hm. I often use the console, but this idea hasn't come to my mind before!

Was there anyone else in the kingsguard at the time of that inheritance?

Yes, there was at least one more member. This is why I posted this as a bug - this was also my first idea that this bug happened because there were no other members.
