So I can't get my computer to screen shot, although if a picture will help let me know and I'll see what I can do, but Jade Dragon seems to be causing some problems for me
12/18 Update: So it looks like I've isolated it to being a problem with Jade Dragon DLC being enabled at the same time that settings.txt has 'draw_trees=no' instead of 'draw_trees=yes' that is causes this graphical error. Other options I have set to 'no' include water, sky, city sprawl and those don't seem to be causing any errors. I haven't yet turned off rivers but I'm going to do that now and try it out. Obviously this is a very very low priority problem now that I've figured out what's causing it and can avoid it.
12/18 2ND Update: So apparently having rivers set to off causes the game to freeze or never zoom in on the map at startup.
12/18 3RD Update: So i clearly did not figure out the problem because now things are more F'd up as before despite me only changing one value, and then changing it back after it didn't work. I don't know how programmers do this kind of stuff.
Meat of the problem: Jade Dragon DLC seems to be causing graphical glitches of the 'Special Alert' buttons that drop down from the center top of the screen. It may or may not have to do with changes made to settings.txt (changing options such as water, river, sky, trees to 'no') and at times the glitches appear to be localized to only the buttons but other times the entire map.
Narrative spiel:
I'm on an older Macbook I got used from my sister that I use exclusively for CK2. Couple months ago was surprised to see CK2 working on my system and then improved once I went into settings and took out certain graphical additions (water, sky, trees, and some others set to no) to make the game run faster. When the game updated for Jade Dragon I was able to navigate around so I could still play the mod using the older version of CK2. Maybe a week ago I made the switch to the 1.8 Mod and everything was going splendidly. Yesterday is when I started to F things up. I changed a few things in the settings.txt document while also buying/downloading Jade Dragon and when I booted the game back up my 'Special Alert' buttons were graphically glitched. They would drop down a distorted, sometimes transparent in certain areas, version of the buttons. You could still get the tooltip identifyer of what the alert was and dismiss for now or dismiss all together but you couldn't tell what the icon was supposed to be without hovering over it. Now as I said I was messing with the settings.txt file and don't recall going into the program to ensure I didn't F things up prior to installing Jade Dragon so I just figured something I touched in the settings.txt was causing the problem. I can't tell you in what order things were done but I tried to replace the settings.txt with a copy of it's original and the graphical errors remained, tried a few other things and every once in a while the entire map would either not load after starting a new game (would freeze on a wide shot of the map and never zoom in or move, cursor would still be movable) and eventually I ended up trying to uninstall the game and re-install. It worked in Vanilla but after loading the DLC it was again causing errors, especially when changing values in settings.txt. Causing a lot of weird map colors and just expanding the 'Alert button' graphic glitch to the entire map. I've actually loaded the game without Jade Dragon DLC (I have most of the major DLC's that AGOT makes use of) but all other settings and DLC enabled and it's just as it was prior to me trying to install Jade Dragon so I'm entirely lost but there's something with the Jade Dragon DLC (and maybe it's only present when you change particular settings in settings.txt but I haven't figured out what exactly it is) causing my game to become unplayable.
I'll answer any questions I can or consider trying any fixes anyone suggests but I've spent the last 10 hours at work trying to fix the problem on and off and I'm just sick of restarting my Mac book (sometimes if the map is too glitched I can't get the machine to respond and have to hard restart) and loading the game so I might not be able to test anything out for the night.
