Hello, so I know this post has been made a few times in the past but without any real resolution and was hoping to test my luck by asking for help myself. I'm currently 200-300 years into my game, many hours logged into it, and I encountered this issue where saving after the new year causes me to crash. I can save right before the year ends and it will be fine, then if I save the next day bang, it crashes. Looking online the only "solution" I was able to find was by going into the save file and changing the date to the 2nd day of the new year, bypassing what ever is causing it. The only problem with this solution is you have to do it every single year. The post I read said it eventually stopped doing this for the guy after 150 or so odd years, but doing that method over 150 times sounds like a nightmare.
Another huge concern about this would be it's probably not just my current save, and I imagine it could and would happen again if I simply restarted a new playthrough. I personally don't think it's worth testing since it would take 5-10 hours of speeding through the game and not killing off my dynasty in the process in order to see if it happens again. During the new year the game does a little pause and then resumes, so I'm guessing something funky is happening there. The post I read mentioned something about depopulation, but I couldn't figure out how to change that in my save file the way he mentioned since by default the depopulation was set to 1.
Important information:
CK2 version: most recent (as of posting this)
AGOT version 2.1
AGOT more bloodlines version 2.1
in order to get the game to work with the sub mod I had to downgrade to a slightly older version of the overhaul mod. This is what someone I know told me after many failed attempts to get the game to even load with the AGOT More Bloodlines submod. This submod is one of the main reasons I'm loving the AGOT mod over the vanilla game, because adding over 100 new bloodlines is brilliant. It is very possible that this mod itself is the issue, but I'm doubtful of that since a few of the posts I've read of people with this issue are many years old. I'm open to any suggestions though. If you need any more information let me know.
Here is the save link if you want to mess around with it yourself, feel free to play it if we manage to figure out what's wrong. I started as the lord of Driftmark, usurped Dragonstone, conquered some of the southern jungle places, and then somehow liberated Pentos and became it's ruler, and the proceeded to liberate some other areas from slavery. Because why not.
