Stopped being a lurker to help with this project/mod. It looks like the issue causing crowns to block the portraits is due to a lack of "allow_property_values" in static_portraits.gfx. I'm assuming you built this off of Remedy's 'build-your-own' portrait mod and not off his Game of Thrones mod, which is probably why they weren't already in the code by default.
Here is just the interface folder, as to not re-upload your work. All you have to do is download and install the mod like normal, then download this fix and take the interface folder and drag and drop it into the original sub-mod's directory, where the folder interface is located, overwriting when asked. Haven't tested it extensively, but it appears to resolve the issue of crowns, as well as imprisonment. Looks to be save compatible.

It seems to work. Thanks.

Wonderful mod, thank you! I'm curious about the source for picture 50. It's a neat character design. But one problem! Where is Khal Drogo?! You got this twat: But not Drogo! Unless I missed him. But seriously though, it's a great mod. EDIT: Also the crown fix thing is not working for me. Any characters with crowns or in prison turn into bald dudes.

It works for me. You fixed it (from shepard)? You take a new game? Doesn't work on saves.

Awesome clubbalang ! This is exactly what I had in mind (I also thought the TV show portraits were not a great fit ) ! Anyway, you have my thanks for this ^^ I was thinking of dabbling a little bit with trait modding event, so that the children could inherit the trait of their parent (and by extension the portrait). Well, i'll see.

Hi guys, I found something which might be immensely helpful for people wanting to have a realistic family tree portrait (with fantasy art). This website : www.artbreeder.com/ allows you to modify an image portrait (age, skin color, hair color, gender) but it also allows to "breed" two images together (which is useful if you want your children portrait to be automatically generated). I'll try building a database for targaryen/valyrian portrait by using existing art. And then assign them automatically to high valyrian characters.
By does anyone knows how to change the portrait of a specific child ? (I already changed the portrait of all high valyrian children, but say I don't know how to make..say viserys portrait, different.

Hey all, thanks for the portrait suggestions - please keep them coming! And Shepard - thanks for looking into the crown issue. Work has been absolutely insane for the past months, so I haven't done much of anything else, but this isn't abandoned! I should have an extended break coming up in a few weeks, and when I have some extra hours, I'm planning on updating the mod with new portraits & looking into the crown issue further (possibly just incorporating Shepard's fix if they're ok with that, though I haven't used/tested it at all yet).
Again, if you have portraits you want added, let me know! I'll probably continue to update this in big batches, so if you get your suggestions in within the next few weeks I can take care of all of them at once when I have an afternoon.

So first of all I understand it was initially made for your own use but I must say please for the sake of going through the manual process of changing portraits try to put each characters portraits in the same row/group logically so we don't have to manually spot one portrait here and second portrait there. It would really help if we had all Jon Snows portraits in the same group. Also, I personally did not find the character ID image included in the latest release of the submod? Anyhow, appreciate the effort you've put into this. PS I have some questions: Does the mod requires any content pack dlcs? Like, are all the portrait slots, also the extra ones usable if I have no content pack dlcs? Do the static portraits work with children too? I personally did not manage to change any childrens portraits. Also, as it likely has been mentioned before wielding a crown messes the static portraits up and they don't work? Robb went bald when I tried to change his portrait BTW I did some testing and adding/replacing existing images is a simple process, but cropping the wanted images precisely etc takes its time. So in a quick tldr, this is how you replace existing portrait image with your own: 1. locate Your PC->Documents->Paradox Interactive->Crusader Kings II->mod->Static_Portraits->gfx->static_portraits There you have all the portraits stored in a .dds file format. Each file contains like 10 portraits. BEFORE DOING ANYTHING BACKUP THE OLD COPY OF THE FILE 2. Open a file of your choosing using ie. GIMP or paint.net. I PERSONALLY USE GIMP IN THIS CASE 3. Paste there the wanted portrait image you want to add 4. You may want to resize the whole background canvas (in gimp you do it from top bar, IMAGE -> canvas size) before pasting the wanted portrait image there so it fits completely and THEN scale it. After that resize the image with shift+s hotkey. After scaling resize the background canvas to its previous size. 5. save the file (FILE -> SAVE) 6. export the file (FILE -> EXPORT AS) and name the file "remedy_portrait_swappingXX.dds" and replace the old file <-- note the .dds fileformat. After that a dds configuration window opens. Choose BC3/DXT5 as a compression type, leave other options untouched and click export

The original Static Portraits gave you over 335 portraits to give to characters, but there was little no no organization of the portraits, making finding specific characters/portrait types a pain. I decided to reorganize the mod, but once I got in there I felt it'd be better if I rebuilt it from scratch.
During my rebuild I added hundreds of new portraits, bringing the total to 728 - just about doubled it. Included are many of the suggestions from this thread. It is now organized by houses/portrait types. First is House Stark with other northern houses/characters, followed by Daenerys and her council as well as the rest of the Targaryens. Following that is a section of assorted male/female High Valyrian portraits. Next is the Lannisters, the Baratheons, the Tyrells, Cleganes, and Martells, as well as other ASoIaF characters. After the specific characters are sections for various male/female portraits. Ultimately I think it's an enormous (and much needed) quality of life improvement. When you want a portrait for a specific kind of character, you'll have a better idea of where to look. I also fixed the issue with adding portraits to characters with crowns.
I've been testing v2.0 and haven't come across any bugs, but please let me know if there are any issues. And I already had to extend ReMeDy's original framework in order to accomodate the hundreds of new portraits I added, but if you have further suggestions, please let me know! This update took a lot of work so I probably won't hop back in right away, but I'll try to eventually add any/all suggested portraits that fit in with the ones in the mod.
Download link for v2.0 has been edited into my original post at the top.
