This is a submod I made for personal use, but I've spent countless hours enjoying this fantastic mod and all of the amazing submods on this board, so I wanted to give back a bit and share. This one comes down to personal taste.
One of the shortcomings of the base CK2 game (and by extension, the AGOT mod) in my opinion are the portraits. There's nothing really wrong with them, but I've never found myself connecting with the characters. I've played way more of the AGOT mod than I have of the base game, and I think that comes down to two things: first, it's such a well-made mod. And second, it's because I love the asoiaf universe and the characters in it. But I always start at either the Robert's Rebellion, Clash of Kings, or Feast for Crows bookmark, because those are the characters I know and enjoy playing around in this great sandbox with. I find it difficult to play more than 2 generations because all the characters I enjoy are dead, as are their children, and I don't connect with their children's children I think in large part because of the portraits. They're just bland. I can picture events with characters I know, but not with these bland potato people that take their place. Call it a lack of imagination. A lot of submods on this board seek to improve these portraits, and I enjoy and use them all. But sometimes it's not enough, so I made this mod. Using this mod I find I can enjoy myself and connect with the characters for further generations. Maybe I'm just weird.
This mod builds on the great framework of ReMeDy over on the Steam workshop. His portrait mod was mostly live-action portraits from the TV show, along with a few illustrated portraits. I'm not a huge fan of the live-action portraits, so I overwrote most of those and added many more illustrated portraits, all of which mostly adhere to a realistic medieval-fantasy vibe.
The first version of my mod added over 335 static portraits to give to characters, but there was little to no organization of the portraits, making finding specific characters/portrait types a pain. I decided to reorganize the mod, but once I got in there I felt it'd be better if I rebuilt it from scratch. During my rebuild I added hundreds of new portraits, bringing the total to 728 - just about doubling it. It is now organized by houses/portrait types. First is House Stark with other northern houses/characters, followed by Daenerys and her council as well as the rest of the Targaryens. Following that is a section of assorted male/female High Valyrian portraits. Next is the Lannisters, the Baratheons, the Tyrells, Greyjoys, Cleganes, and Martells, as well as other ASoIaF characters. After the specific characters are sections for various male/female portraits. Ultimately I think it's an enormous (and much needed) quality of life improvement. When you want a portrait for a specific kind of character, you'll have a better idea of where to look.
So how does it work? In the root mod folder, there is an image file called "Portrait Numbers.jpg" (which I will also insert below). Each portrait is associated with a number, 1 through 728, and each number is associated with a trait in-game which triggers the portrait to be used. To change a character portrait in-game, you simply:
1. Select the portrait you want to use from the character number sheet and note its number.
2. Enter the console (~) and type, without the quotations: "add_trait portrait[portrait number] [character id]" - there will be no space between "portrait" and the portrait number and if you're changing your own character's portrait, you can leave out the character id.
If you want to remove the portrait, simply enter into the console: "remove_trait portrait[portrait number] [character id]" - if you are switching from one portrait to another, you should now be able to just add the new portrait, but if you have any trouble with that, then try removing the original portrait before adding the new one. And that's it! So if you want to add the 2nd portrait to your character, you would type "add_trait portrait2" and poof, you've got the 2nd portrait. It just kinda works. Given the use of the console, it's not ironman compatible, but it does seem to be save game compatible.
I've already exceeded the portrait limit of ReMeDy's framework and had to edit it to allow for more, but this mod still has room to grow - if you have images you would like to be added as a portrait & they fit the general theme/vibe of this collection, please let me know! This update took forever so it might take me a bit to get back to it, but when I do, I'd be happy to add them! I think next time I update it I'll probably also add portraits to a few characters by default so you don't have to manually add them to everyone. Please let me know if there are any issues or if you have any suggestions!

Credits:
- The AGOT Dev team for their wonderful mod
- ReMeDy - I used his mod pathway and traits file as the backbone and framework. My work here was finding the 728 pictures, cropping/formatting them for the file system, using paint.net to create the portrait .dds files with them, and making additional edits to allow for portraits beyond his original number limit. Per the steam page (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725976856) he said others can use his mod as long as they credit him, but if you have any issues with this ReMeDy, please let me know & I'll take it down/edit it to no longer use your framework.
- Various artists. I found this art all over the internet - usually the original artist was not cited. I'm not getting anything from this mod so I think it's fine to post, but if any of the original artists want me to remove their image or credit them properly, please reach out to me & I'd be happy to do so.
Updates:
- (04/17/20) Added 48 additional portraits
- (08/12/21) Released v2.0 - completely rebuilt/reorganized the mod, adding hundreds of new portraits, bringing the total to 728. Portraits are now much better organized for convenience. Issue with portraits not showing when a character is wearing a crown is now fixed.
