It occurred to me when reading up on the lore of ASOIAF that the ironborn of old (those who were chosen via a kingsmoot before the Andals arrived) made those they defeated into tributary states instead of outright conquering them, as they did with both Oldtown and the arbour before they were incorporated into the kingdom of the reach. And it made me think that this would be a great game mechanic for an ironborn ruler (and quite possibly a pirate or Corsair ruler as well) to craft a vast network of begrudging subordinates, a strong ironborn ruler could quite literally conquer half of Westeros and then it would be lost when his son takes over, as often happened with the ironborn of old. There’s already a cassius beli for establishing a tributary state in the base game of CK2 so I don’t think it would be to hard to implement

There already is a similar mechanic in the form of ironborn conquest cb I think.
