I recently started playing again and was wondering if there's a way to stop Orys (in the first bookmark) and his descendants legitimising themselves if they're AI, and/or to stop that option from coming up if you're playing as them? I'd like for them to become a legit house in their own right as more of a Targaryen Valyrian cadet instead of their canon Stormlander equivalent (Durrans still where they should be). But this option is always there and if I decide to take a moment to jump characters to do some maintenance or whatever, I'll always find someone's legitimised themselves.

If I understand you correctly, you want to prevent House Baratheon from being able to be legitimized and therefore become Targaryens? If so, try adding NOT = { dynasty = 317 } to the trigger section of the event cadet.16 found in the cadet_event.txt file in the events folder.

Perfect, thanks a lot!

Oh, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working. Is there any specific place in the trigger section I should be placing that line?

That worked for as long as Orys lived, but his son decided to legitimise himself afterwards haha. No worries!

Yeah they were both pre-Conquest Baratheon, and then they both turned Targ (even though Orys was dead) after he legimitised himself and his family.

I believe if you console command legitimize Orys, it's not an issue. What you do is console command "add_trait legit_bastard" and then console command "remove_trait bastard." That's what I've always done, and I've don't think I've had an issue.

I came across something else you probably will want to add that line I mentioned above to. In the the minor_decisions.txt file there is a legitimize_self decision and ask_liege_for_legitimisation. Try adding that line to the potential of those decisions.
