If it says that a character's properties are invalid, just add some zeroes on the end until it says otherwise. The properties value is supposed to be a certain length varying based on mods and things adding layers to the portraits, and in saves the game assumes if a property value isn't long enough that the extra characters are just zeroes.

This mod is great. Just a pity my sensors tingle whenever I see strange faces surrounding the big characters. Roose with a big beard, ugly Daenerys. Would be an idea if there would a combined effort to make a list of good/TV-friendly/lore-friendly faces of characters? Other than that.. mod is better than vanilla.

Based on my previous comment I decided to create my own database of DNA with the portrait tool based on Tubbs' Better Faces. To make most known characters look more in line with the lore, since this mod does tend to break many faces into lore unfriendly ways. Right now I finished 42 specific DNA for characters. As of now I have done several Starks, Lannisters, Greyjoy, Bolton, Mormont, Targaryen, Forrester (agot game) and a few minor characters.

I made them as much as I could in line with the description based on the book, so not the TV series. E.a. Jon has dark brown hair, not black.

I made it for personal use , but if anyone is interested, I can share what I have. Or perhaps even complete it and then make a small release out of it.

Yeah, that's the easiest way for me also. Put up the DNA + example of each character. Only downside is, that it does require people to know what to edit in their files. Might be annoying for some, since characters are scattered over different .txt files based on the area on the map (Stormlands, Crownlands etc.)

I'll go ahead and redo the bigger families that I have not done yet (if needed), and then will post the first batch.

My tweaked DNA / properties of several characters that I thought needed tweaking

Notes:

- Don't mind the clothes, and age (some too old, some too young) on some characters etc. It's correct ingame depending on the circumstances, role, rank and year etc. There was no benefit and too much bother in the tool to showing it correctly for each time period and each character, since the game adapts it correctly anyhow. Thus, also the features such as Robert his face being more red due to alcholism and Euron having a slightly blue mouth etc. are there correctly. They are trait related.

- I tried to stay true to the description of the characters in the books and in case of the Telltale game, to how they look ingame. In some cases I borrowed a little from the tv series where I had not much to go on. And also had a little inspiration from a few characters already posted in this thread.

- In some cases, such as Stannis. He has more hair here than according to the books. In the lore he has a crown around his bald head. There no such thing ingame around Stannis his age around the War of the Five Kings. Only when he is really old ingame does his hairstyle get his "crown" balding style. That was the best I could do, so I took this option instead of fully bald Stannis.

It's not perfect -- but in the cases where the portraits didn't make much sense with Tubbs' better faces I think it's an improvement.

English portraits fit AGOT universe much better than German ones, even though i myself prefer German portraits. but it's fairly easy to Switch them to German, just open the portraits_reachman.gfx in Interface/Portraits and change each facial feature from english to german. for instance GFX_english_male_base, just change that to german alongside other facial features,eyes, nose, cheeks, etc. oh and make sure you do it for all three types, young , middle aged and old, they're all lined up, just scroll down. it's simple really, just time consuming.

Daenerys' DNA and Properties does not work whatsoever, also what's up with the very long properties? That seems to cause issues with hairstyles and beards, as for the Dany thing, I did add a "p" to "roperties"

I must've done something wrong because barely any of the new dnas and properties show up as they're meant to, would someone be able to upload the character .txt files that have been changed?

edit: turns out more bloodlines submod has history files that I didn't change, that's why!

Edit 2: Now that I made sure to alter the correct history files they showed up correctly, they look great, I hope you keep it up man!

We definitely need better dna for Danny. She looks like some mutant that crawled out of the Valyrian wastelands right now. She's so ugly, I can't even bring myself to play as her. It's funny, because all the other Targaryen characters look amazing with this mod.
