Just in case anyone thinks this mod is dead, I'm waiting until the release of Holy Fury (whenever that is) before updating/changing this mod further as I'm anticipating having to remake a lot of the portrait files to include the new stuff in Holy Fury. could You please Change the valyrian portrait to the German portrait since i believe It fits better considering that they look Much better then the ones you're currently using If not could You teacher me How to Change It? It's quite simple to make that change. First, download Notepad++, if you don't already have it. Then go to AGOT Better Faces\interface\portraits\ and open portraits_valyrian.gfx with Notepad++. Press Ctrl + H to open find and replace, type "ugric" in the first box and "german" in the second, then hit Replace All. And you're all done.

For some reason, whenever I try to play the game with this submod, the faces don't appear. I'm running CK2 2.8.3.4 and the latest version of both this submod and the main AGOT mod. I have all of the necessary DLCs as well.

I'm not really sure what the problem is, if, as you say, you have all the neccessary DLC. Maybe try deleting this mod and downloading it again, and make sure all your DLC is enabled (apart from Holy Fury, if you have it).

Yep, Holy Fury is disabled and redownloaded the mod, but the portraits are still vanilla

So with the new release sometime in the relatively near future I just had a couple suggestions for using the new portraits for your mod. I think the new arabic portraits would fit the ghiscari, with maybe the Egyptian GFX?
For the Qartheen I would use the French portraits and make them pale like you did with the ones you used previously, also definitely giving at least the men different hair sets if possible.
For the Bravoosi/Free cities I would use the new Eastern European portraits, which for which I don't know but I think just giving them a slight tan and maybe again different hair styles (if possible) would do wonders.
Frankly not a big fan of the italian portraits but I like the ones currently used for the Myrmen even less, so perhaps using those with darker skin/different hair colors would do well.
Obviously you're free to disagree and make what you want, this was just some quick brainstorming from me.
Some other potential alternatives include a Valyrian set using the French portraits as I feel they are the most attractive on average across both genders. Anyway I would like a French alt set for the Valyrians personally, but I don't think that neccessarily precludes their use by the Qartheen. It's up to you anyway.
Another alternative would be the arabic portraits for sand dornish instead of the Ghiscari

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take these into consideration when I update the mod.

Oh also I haven't played Agot since holy fury, what are you currently using for Western Valyrian portraits?

Hello, first of all I wanted to thank the author of this submod, I think it is essential to enjoy this wonderful modification even more. When I leave I will enjoy it in any way, but I will leave here my point of view about some possibilities for the next update.
The fundamental thing that I want to emphasize is that it would be very inversive that there is a certain logic of differentiation between the east and the west with its exoticism. That is, do not repeat Germanic portraits in the East unless they are andals. On the other hand, it seems to me better that in the Free Cities, Byzantine, Jewish or even Russian portraits predominate (this last case is not so clear),. For the valyrios one could modify the Greek portraits to make them of a more delicate beauty (as they are described in the books), in fact I saw in Steam some modification to include Greek targaryens in the vanilla game that could point to a solution in this regard. Another possibility is to use French portraits.
In the case of Asshai you can use fine-ugric portraits, to give it a different look from the rest of the cultures. In Qarth give pale aspect to the Byzantine aspects, or mix them with the one used in Asshai. On the rest of the new packages, one possibility is to use the new Slavic portraits in the Iron Islands (since they look pretty hard and tough, such as the Ironborn),or the Italians in the Reach (especially for women to represent better the hairstyles and aspects described in the books), Or use the French here, and leave the Italians for Braavos. The French if they are not used in the valyrios, use them in the Crown Lands and in the Lands of the Rivers. Keep the Germans in the Valley, and in the Lands of the Storm. In the Western Lands I really do not know, keep the Germans, or modify the hair of the French and use them there. Regarding the north, the relationship between pagan nordics and normands of normandie (descendants of one another) can be emulated, between the Free People and the northerners of the Seven Kingdoms. Excuse me the use of automatic translator, but English is not my mother tongue, and I use it poorly.

Which DLC is required for the new Summer Islander portraits? They show up as blank faces for me.
Never mind, I didn't notice Reaper's Due also had a content pack. Great mod!

I agree, I reckon the westernslavic would work well for ironmen or even first men with a few of the hairs (particularly the women) definitely being great for northerners. French look great for valyrians and and Italians with different beard assets would work for free cities. As for Dornishmen, the new Arabic portraits are fantastic.

Yea, the more I think about it the more I think French portraits were like made for the Valyrians, fine delicate features, arrogant expressions. Give em some silver/silver-gold hair with violet/purple eyes and they'll be fantastic.

Using a mix of Western Slavic, German and French hair, with a french base I reckon Valyrians could look superb (note, clothes have not been changed, just the hair and beards have been messed around with): Rhaegar: Orys: And then for Northmen, a mix of Westernslavic, English, and German hair Jon Snow season 1: Jon Snow season 7: Howland Reed: Random Northerner:

I'm pretty busy with University work at the moment, and I'm holding off doing any major work on this until the Holy Fury update is released, but I thought I'd share what I've done so far. Here are the High Valyrian hair & beards styles. As you'll be able to tell from the image I am planning on using the Frankish/French portraits for valyrians.

Next I'll be working on the Andal hair and beard styles, I'm considering making each Westerosi culture have it's own set of hair & beard styles, rather than one for the Andals, one for the Ironborn and one for the First Men.
