Just curious about your favourite minor, landless or barony-level houses with their own CoAs that you guys enjoy playing as, as I'm always looking for new, unique near-nobody families to start as. At the moment I'm having a game as House Longwaters (nice CoA for them) starting with Rennifer in the Feast bookmark, but also have had games as House Pennytree (Ser Arlan's family) during the Blackfyre Rebellion, and sometimes House Tall which the devs made for Duncan the Tall during After The Spring.

Toyne (obviously), Justman, Greyiron, Mudd, Qoherys, Varezys, Reyne, Whent, Tall. Most are extinct in AFFC but I like to mod a custom char in one of those houses. Also house Frost.I take Duncan and grant him a lordship and modify his house nane to Frost and keep the CoA. Also you can RP house Tuttle as house Frost.

I second Souwly's favorites and add house Blackmont, we know so little about that house in the mountains...

Do the Greyirons and the Mudds count as minor houses though?
I guess, if that's the case, House Ryswell would have to be it for me. Then the Flints.

Since they have no lands or titles in AFFC they do count as minor houses in my opinion but it's all up to you. You can make it your quest to restore them to their former glory or maybe even exceed it. What I like to do is give myself a valyrian sword and a small county. For example in my last playthrough I gave my Toyne character Black Death and colonized summerhall through console and made that my sole county and seat.

My absolute favorite is House Pyne. Others include Marstyne, Langward, Quagg, Blackmyre, Donniger, Toyne, Whent, Lefford, Dustin and Staedmon

House Velaryon. Shocker, right? Seriously, they are like the loyal Valyrian-blooded sidekick of the Targaryens and it's always nice to play as a 'High Valyrian' character that isn't (legally) allowed to bang his own sister. Besides, the ASOIF history and lore of the Velaryons is amazing and fascinates me more than any other. I personally believe that it is a greatly underrated house in the series. They have been there in both the back and foreground of many of the most important events in the early history of the Targaryen era and nobody both in or out of the ASOIAF universe seems to remember or acknowledge them. Aegon the Conqueror's mother was a Velaryon, as was his first Master of Ships, the wife and consort of his first son and heir, as well as the first Lord Commander of his Kingsguard. A Velaryon was the mother of the greatest king Westeros ever had, Jaehaerys I, as well as the grandmother of Daemon Blackfyre. There have been two Velaryon consorts and three Targaryen kings with Velaryon mothers (four if you count Aegon, eldest son and heir of Aenys who was killed by Maegor). They were once richer than the Lannisters and second only in power to the Targaryens themselves. If only the Dance had not destroyed their vast wealth and the death of the dragons not cost them their influence at court, they would certainly still be counted amongst the 'great houses' of Westeros by the time of Robert's Rebellion.

Probably House Wendwater, I love their CoA and they have their own house words which is cool considering how insignificant their house is, they just recently got demoted to Baron level in a previous update which is tragic.

I might try them soon, they do indeed have a nice CoA. All for playing as the Mudds too, bringing them back to former glory. I once had them form central Westeros after taking back the Riverlands and conquering the four Andal kingdoms in Century of Blood. Good times. I remembered another one I like playing as; House Harroway. Something about their CoA really wobbles my jelly. And of course the newly formed House Thenn, which I tend to edit so they're a legit house in the earlier bookmarks too.

Yeah, good ol' Alyn was the 'last gasp' for House Velaryon and he did exceptionally well to make a name for himself and keep his family's historic favoured position at court, despite the damage done to his family's wealth and reputation in the Dance. The way his house seemingly bounced back from that so quickly makes it seem, to me, that there is indeed more bad luck for the house that is yet to come. Part of me thinks that they may have even sided with the Blackfyres (Daemon's maternal grandmother was a Velaryon) in the initial rebellion and thus lost any remaining favour they may have had with the Targaryens. Then again, we already know that the last Master of Ships under Aerys II during Robert's Rebellion was a Velaryon, so I suppose this wouldn't make too much sense. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

I'm a big fan of Harroway, talking about extinct houses Justman is another House I really like. I like the theme around them and the CoA

Forrester, Hornwood and Flint in the North Royce in the Vale Blackwood and Bracken in the Riverlands Reyne in the Westerlands Dondarrion and Selmy in the Stormlands Hightower in the Reach and Dayne in Dorne
I also like the extinct Houses several centuries ago, like Gardener, Mudd, Durrandon and Greyiron
I like to create a bastard nephew for Argilac in the mod files, start a game in Crowned Dragon, grant any county, destroy the bloody Orys Baratheon, regain the Stormlands getting support from the vassals and marry Argella Aegon never does anything for his brother
