So one of the High Valyrian events causes you to turn into a dragon or die
My question is, how does this event trigger? What is the best way to cause it to happen and succeed?
I would have used spoiler tags but for some reason they aren't working for me.

I would have used spoiler tags but for some reason they aren't working for me. You must be Valyrian (and/or of an appropriate dynasty), and have either the lunatic or the fire obsessed trait. The MTTH is 750 years, reduced by learning below 9 (with further reductions below 6 and 3), and the lunatic trait. The MTTH is increased at learning 13, 16, and 19, as well as by the scholar trait. In other words, to maximize the odds of the event happening, you want to have learning 0-2, be a lunatic, and not a scholar. You will almost always turn into a fake dragon, though, which is an entirely negative trait. To turn into a real dragon magic must have returned, in which case there is a 0.5% chance of turning into a real dragon if I am reading the file correctly in events/high_valyrian_events.txt

Also, even in the very chance you become a real dragon, you don't continue playing as that character.

But is he a real dragon, like other characters can tame him or does he have his own will ?

Would it be possible for a decision to be added for lunatic, fire obsessed, high valyrians to make the attempt if they have enough dragon lore?

Some events will result in strange game behavior when you fire them manually. The creators have made the mod to function well when it is played as intended, but I believe that "childproofing" every event from console triggering would simply consume too much time and effort.

That's pretty much exactly how it works.
